I used MoPay last month so I may as well share my experience with others!

So I had an old (but great condition) Nokia N73, I shopped around and MoPay were offering highest price (about £55). I opted for a cheque as I prefer money in my account rather than using vouchers (although the voucher offer was a few £ more) on stuff I don't 'really' need.

So two days after I registered and gave my details, my freepost bag arrived. I popped my phone in with the email confirmation, sealed and took it to the post office for proof of posting (which was about £0.59 - the Post Office didn't really like doing it, as it was FreePost, but they did in the end! The lady there says there is insurance up to £40 - better than nothing, I thought.) Oh another reason I did this was because the FreePost bag is brightly coloured and it is like "I HAS PHONE: TAKE ME!!" :D

Then a bit of time passed. A week later their website (MyAccount section) showed my phone was being tested.
Then a week passed (was too busy to keep checking the site!) and one day that week I got a nice little cheque in the post - for the exact amount they originally said. I cashed it in and the money is in my account - so they are no dodgy cheques!

So all in all, a reliable and good paying mobile phone recycling company.

Very satisfied. Will no doubt use them again in the future (in fact, this thread has reminded my I have some redundant iPods that could go there... :D)

Sent mine off on 19th July... They claim that it has not been received by them. Bye Bye to my £46 in vouchers. Never again.

After seeing they were offering the best price on the comparrison tool, I sent them a phone in on Jan the 15th and heard nothing back for one month. I tried visiting the website for an update but all I read was that the phone was "tested", finally I had to email THEM for information, and was told the phone was beyond economical repair and therefore worthless and they wouldn't send it back. I then had to ask for it back as I had always used envirophone before that, because even when I sent them a phone worth a tenner, after it was tested and come out beyond econimical repair, they still offered me a couple of quid for it.

I am yet to see if Mopay will send me back my phone. It's not the money aspect that bothers me, but the fact that I had to actively enquire for an update. Grr.

Sorry I forgot to update it on here: After another enquiring and slightly angry email to them, they said they'd send me a £5 goodwill cheque, which I accepted, and it went through.

I will avoid them in the future and probably go for envirophone as per usual because even if my phone is broken they still offer money for it, and there is a no-nonsense approach.

  • Was it fast and efficient? Yes
Did you get your cash promptly? Yes
Did you have any problems? No
Did it pay what it said it would? Yes - and a little bit more

Used these services with much trepidation but had a great experience. Sold my Nokia 5800 to them for about £65 online, actually got a cheque for £68 and some pence. The cheque came 7 days after I posted my phone, I cashed it with no problems.

All in all a good experience, I will say though that I sent my phone in by recorded delivery - the Quidco cashback will cover what that cost me :) - I was a little wary as to whether or not it would get there and the additional expense seemed worth it.
  • Posted the phone on Monday had the M&S vouchers on the Thursday of the same week very fast and easy service and they gave the most for the phone, Very pleased and would recommend.
  • I too sent my phone after seeing on a price comparison site that they were the best.

Well I traded in my Nokia 6300 phone to mopay on the 17/06/2010 and sent it to them via recorded delivery (as it was worth £32) on the 25/06/2010. Nearly 2 months after I started the whole process I am not getting very far with this company and I am still awaiting my money. First of all they say I traded in two phones, one being a samsung, but we have never ever had any samsung phones in this house. They said that a cheque had been sent and only since I queried because I hadn't received it as to whether they were sending it to the right address they are now saying that I sent a samsung and was trading in two phones despite me now finding my confirmation e mail stating that I only traded in one phone. They say they don't have the EMEI number of my phone on their system, yet in my account section on their website it says my phones have been received. I say phones as it says 2 in the number, but as I found this evening when checking through all my e mails it was only 1 phone that I sent as I believed anyway. I did send recorded delivery and I have the proof of delivery signature. But they are saying I have to claim off royal mail as the phone is missing.

My son said I should have used Envirofone. I am just resigning myself to the fact that I will not see the money

Just out of interest does anyone have these problems with other similar companies? I have recycled a number of phones without any trouble and never heard of problems before. I used Mopay, lost a £60 phone and hear all kinds of problems. Is it really worth the risk of the promise of a few extra pounds?

    Hello,

Just to let you all know my experience on mopay.

Used the tool tracker to see who would pay the most. Mopay won.

Sent off my details to them.

2 days later get my envelope, I send off my phone (with copy of order number inside).

5 working days later I get my cheque for £71.50 - Happy Days:T

Would definitely use them again, no problems at all. For info I didnt pay to send it recorded delivery and I worried a little that I should have, next time I will.

    Happy weekend everyone!
  • I posted off my phone in the Freepost envelope nearly 3 weeks ago and mopay still haven't recieved it. So thats £14 I've lost out on. Next time I'll definitely be using recorded delivery!
