I have used Mopay - I sent my phone 2 weeks ago as instructed and they have said they apparently haven't received it.

Who do we blame? Mopay or Royal Mail?
  • I too have had a problem with MOPAY, sent my phone to them on the 28th of April, no payment received, have rung them advised that because IMEI sticker was missing so they could not pay me out, advised the phone case had been replaced due to damage. Still no joy after a week; was not informed of a problem. They should have contacted me about this rather than just keep the phone. I have insisted they sent me the phone back but will not be holding my breath; this is a blatant act for theft, all of us who have had a problem should take out a group action and sue them for keep property that does not belong to them.

I too have experienced problems with mopay. They are claiming to have initiated a BACS transfer, but no funds have appeared in my account. They are now saying that they will reinitiate the transfer, which sounds well dodgy to me... I mean, if you've sent someone money & the funds have left your account, then you wouldn't just go sending it again, and on top of that act as if this is something perfectly normal to happen...? I have never heard anyone else make such a claim before and I work in payroll, dealing with BACS payments on a weekly basis. Getting a bit worried now after reading other feedback, but fingers crossed I'll still receive my money...

Further to this, I have now received my payment, and the quidco cashback for the transaction as well, which is extremely quickly, so maybe I was a bit too cynical, being so negative about them...
I don't think I can hang on til Friday...
  • I have just sold a N73 via Mopay and found no problems at all. I followed the details with placing the reference number on envelope and paid postage to the address last week. This morning l received my vouchers in the post brilliant ,so have £62 towards christmas shopping 2009
  • Didn't want my first post to be a negative one but MoPay have proven themselves to be an absolute sham!

Sent my Nokia 6300 as instructed on their website following everything to the letter i.e. getting the IMEI number, putting the phone in a package, making sure everything is wiped bla bla.

Got a letter a couple of weeks later, saying that my mobile has been classified as Beyond Economical Repair (BER) and that my phone was worth £0.00 and that it's now being sent to be recycled!!!! To say that I was miffed would have been an understatement! A BER phone is classified as the following on their website:
    • Physically broken
    • In more than one piece
    • Broken/Cracked/Snapped hinges
    • Water damaged
    • LCD cracked/bleeding/does not work or missing
    • Unresponsive touch screen’s
    • SIM glued in
    • Memory card glued in
    • Broken battery terminals
    • Re-programmed IMEI number**
    • Logged by Immobilise/on the IMEI blacklist register**
    • Barred by a network**

My mobile was none of those things and it was packaged very well so unless someone at Royal mail went at it with a large hammer, I'm pretty sure it got to them in the same state that it was sent in.

Anyway, phoned them up and spoke to one of their customer reps who was very polite and said that they will re-check my mobile for me and update me accordingly within a few days..... Yep, you guessed it, heard nothing back for a week so called them again and spoke to another rep who checked my account and said that no action had been taken on my case as they had no log of my previous call!!!

It turns out that the reason why they classified my mobile as BER is.... wait for it.....because the IMEI number is missing from the sticker on the back of the phone!! This is even more puzzling considering that they advise you on their website that if you can't find the IMEI number on the phone, to simply press *#06# and hey presto, there's the number. Why they couldn't do that themselves is beyond me and is an absolute joke.

I'm getting the feeling that this company is running a bit of a Scam and almost try and find things to NOT pay you your money. Fair enough if they say there is a problem with the phone and send it back but no, they actually keep hold of it and recycle it for you! How nice!

I asked Mopay to send back the phone but it's been over a week now and I have now lost patience and am escalating this further.

  • Took a little while longer than most to show phone as received but got paid fine and cashback tracked on Quidco too
2p off is still 2p off!
  • I sent in a phone worth over £60 about a month ago to their Freepost address. They say they never received it.

I was going to send it registered but never got around to getting to the Post Office so decided to risk it. Big mistake!

It may be entirely down to the Royal Mail but I will not be sending anymore phones to Mopay.

I sent them my phone a month ago.

Firstly when I rung them week later whether they received, they said system shows no but Freepost envelope takes up to 10 days and also they have back log in warehouse.

Called week later they said they received it and will be sending vouchers out probably by the end of the week. This is over 2 weeks ago - I allowed for even the slowest snail mail delivery and couple of days on the top and just tried to ring them again - NUMBER TEMPORARILY NOT AVAILABLE???

However they already paid Quidco? (extra £3.80 via Quidco for your first phone).

I sent my sister's phone to Love2Recycle 3 days later then mine to Mopay and was a bit worried as I haven't heard about that company before - and she already has her payment and everything!!!

They quoted me £140 for six phones and have neglected to send the jiffy envelope - Twice.

    Whats the point?

The very same experience for me, perfectly working, perfect condition mobile phone, triple wrapped in bubble wrap and three weeks later after no comms whatsoever from them apparently it's got a cracked and broken screen, 'beyond economical repair', and is worth zilch. I can't prove the phone arrived perfectly so i have to take it at face value but i wouldn't recommend these twits to anyone. My experience is: use this lot at your peril.....:mad:

I wished i'd have taken less money and gone with Mazuma. They really were/are a professional company.....
