Does a contract form when the phone has been received by them?

ie. Would they have to pay me the quoted price or are they free to make it lower and if I don't accept, send it back

I sent off 2 phones on 02/11/10 via Royal Mail recorded delivery. The RM website showed them as being delivered on the 04/11/10 but on the 10/11/10 an opened envelope was returned to me. I contacted Money4MyMobile who were helpful initially but now have gone silent despite calls and emails. I realise it is not their fault the phones went missing in the post but they still didn't help when I asked how the envelope was returned to me with an address from them and they claim they never received anything.

I've just blocked the phones via my network provider so at least if they do show up then they be marked on the "black list". I'm going to try and put in a claim in with Royal Mail but not holding out much hope.

    My advice:
    1. Always send the phones via Special Delivery
    2. Use Mazuma - didn't have any issues with them

if they were delivered then i dont see what claim you have with RM
  • A bad experience from money4mymobile

I sent a ZTE RAcer to money4mymobile using Special Delivery Next Day Service.

The initial quote for the phone was £75. money4mymobile sent a Freepost jiffy bag (bubble wrap lined). On sending (29.11.2010), the handset was wrapped in bubble wrap with about 2cm of bubble wrap all around. This was placed inside the Freepost jiffy bag that comes lined with bubble wrap.

This morning I received two emails

    The first

    Dear P,

We would like to confirm that we have received your package.

We will now go ahead and validate the contents.

    The phone you traded is:
ZTE Racer (Qty 1 (Working), Total: £75.00)
    Total value: £75.00

If you would like more information please read our terms and conditions, look at our frequently asked questions, email us at info@money4mymobile.com or call our Customer Service team on 0800 707 6096 (Monday to Friday - 8:30am to 5:30pm)

    The second

    Dear P,

Many thanks for sending MoneySupermarket Recycling your old mobile phone. It has now undergone testing with our technical team and we have found the following problem:

You traded a ZTE Racer as working. However according to our grading the handset is actually faulty (lcd broken).

Because of this difference, our revised offer is to pay you £37.50.

Please let us know within 7 days if you accept or reject the revised offer. To do so, please reply to this email.

If you reject the offer we will return the handset to you free of charge.

If we do not hear from you by then we will continue to process your handset at the revised offer.

So it appears that the phone has been damaged in transit or during subsequent handling. Prior to posting a short video was taken demonstrating that the phone was in good physical condition and screen in working condition.

    * money4mymobile reported the phone was damaged at inspection.
    * Royal Mail will NOT provide compensation without the original postage packaging.
    * money4mymobile cannot return the original packaging as they dispose of the packaging (note that money4mymobile do suggest using RM Special delivery for high value phone but this is of no value as no claim can be made with out the original postage packaging)

    So in my case

    1. My almost new ZTE Racer will be returned broken (or I accept the revised offer)
    2. Royal Mail Special Delivery has been a waste of money
    3. money4mymobile advice to use Special Delivery is of no value to its customers

    I cannot recommend using money4mymobile
  • Further to my previous post.

Received a call from money4mymobile saying that the phone had be incorrectly processed by a new starter. The phone has been checked as fully working, they will send an email to explain the situation and I will receive the original quoted amount.

I wonder if these forums are monitored by these companies?

Can I recommend using money4mymobile? It still has to be a no

Credit - they did actually phone me back and explain.
But they did not keep the original packaging (so Special Delivery is worthless cover) and there is a problem with training or supervising 'new starters'

Sent a Nokia E71 to recycle to this bunch. NO response for 5 weeks. Followed up with a call only to be told that no phone had been received.

    Staff was rude and uncooperative.

Lost a phone worth £60 and had to put up with arrogant service.

    Avoid.

No problems here. Sent them my working Samsung S7230, they took about a week to test it, and the money appeared in my bank account 3 days after that.
