Just sold 2 old Sony-Ericsson's to money4urmobile.com with no problems what-so-ever. They were both very well used and in excess of 4 years old. No physical damage although they were both scuffed quite excessively to the buttons and screens.
Got an email within 3 days of posting saying they would pay me the full price and the money arrived in my account 4 days after that!0 -
i have a purple-ish mark under by the side underneath the screen, is that water damage?0

"Just out of curiosity, for those who have sent their phone to them were later claimed faulty. Did you ever request those handsets to be sent back for analysis or did you just let them have it without payment? I know the whole point is recycling the handsets, but if a company like this claims every handset to be faulty and not make a payment surely thats not right. "
It's in their terms & conditions that once the handset is sent to them it will not be possible to have it returned to you.
Not the best thought out system as customers are almost bound to ask for the return of their handset if the offer price is substantially reduced!
Obviously, there are some people who will send in handsets they know are damaged in some way hoping the company will not notice-but it must be a two-way system-as you should be able to have the phone sent back to you if the revised offer price is lower than you are prepared to accept!
NOTE The offer code is valid only up to the date quoted but you must make sure the phone is in their possession by the end date of the offer, not the date of posting otherwise you may have to fight to get your bonus £5!!
Hi All,
Sorry it's been a couple of days waiting for my response - I've been enjoying a couple of days respite!
Dan 66 is indeed correct, our T’s and C’s do in fact state that we are unable to return phones once sent. This being due to the fact that phones are shipped out of our facility every day. Rarely do phones stay on the premises more than 2 days. We do have to presume that T’s and C’s are agreed to when people send their phones in. However, it’s not always as cut and dried as that. If your enquiry is quick enough we can agree to re-test phones if they are still here. Only today I authorised the return of 2 Nokia N95 8gb’s that were found to have LCD damage, luckily they were both still here. While the damage was faint, it was apparent and still drastically reduces the value of the phone. We will help all we can if physically possible!
As to promotional codes, these are still valid up to 30 days of end date to allow people plenty of time to get them in. There was a technical issue on the day after M4M001 expired; this was corrected as soon as it was noticed. If you have still to receive your promo code value, please call in on 0845 466 7145, we’ll get that corrected for you!“Official Company Representative

Sadly I also had a bad experience. They came up with the best price via the comparison tool, but then sent an email on receipt of the handset saying I'd been credited with £0.00. No explanation offered. Had to send 3 emails over the course of a week before I got a very short reply telling me the phone was 'water damaged'. I replied immediately to ask of the nature of the damage, as the phone was being used up until a few days before. Guess what? No response....
Hi Ple,
Could you let me have your reference number and I'll look into it for you?

Hi DomTom,
I'm no technician myself but here's what I've been told:
Definitely an indication of LCD damage. What type of phone is it? Usually with Nokia's there's a colour dot inside the phone which turns red which clearly indicates fluid damage.
Other signs can be:
Flickering on start up
Any other abnormalities to screen, lighter/darker patches on start up
Bleeding of LCD if you touch the screen.
Come back to me, or give me a call if you need any further information.
Cheers!

its a samsung u900, its got slght indication of water damage on the battery, half the sticker has turned purple, the other half is still white with crosses.
this is probably from humid or rainy conditions as its definately not been in water. phone works perfectly, no fault other than that0 -
Hi Ruth,
Im guessing you guys are getting quite busy these days!!! I have sent 3 handsets on 18/05 but it is still not showing on my account as being received – I have also sent 2 emails asking if you have received the handsets and it just hasn’t been added to my account but I haven’t had a reply on those either…
I would be grateful if you could look into it! Many thanks!0 -
Many thanks Ruth - I have just received confirmation that my handsets have been received!0

Hi Newcook!
You know, I have to be honest here, I've just logged in! I didn't do a thing! I'm presuming the phones must have turned up eventually! To be honest though, 4 days is about average from posting to us getting them through here.
I'll take it as proof that in 99.9% of occasions, the system works :-)
