We have actually changed our policy on phones which completely fail our testing and give the customer 3 days to get in touch to arrange for their phone to be sent back. In the past this has been difficult as we have thousands of items going through our warehouse each day,

We also pay BACs so save the hassle of waiting on cheque to clear.

For iphones it would be great to have the charger so please include if you decide to send to us.

    Anymore questions please just ask!

Thank you for that! I have the charger, the box and everything else, so you'll be welcome to all of it really, or it will only be thrown away!

I was only anxious about reports that my phone might not be returned if there is disagreement, so I'm glad to hear that you will. I guess a sensible precaution is to take photos of its condition and of it working!

Waiting on organising its replacement - my contract is nearly up. So it's likely to be a week or two. Just hope the prices hold up! ;)

Money4urMobile is run by Redeem Plc...

    Ah.
Now well, that explains a lot.

Redeem also 'own' Simply Drop, o2 recycle and, I believe some others.

They have a policy that they won't return phones for any reason, leaving the door wide open for abuse (they and they alone decide whether to pay the agreed price for your phone, and there is no comeback at all if you disagree with their verdict. Whilst I'm not directly accusing anyone of anything, it creates a clear bias in the favour of Redeem, and wouldn't be allowed in most contracts. I doubt very much that the T&Cs would stand up if you sued Redeem for the loss of a phone they decided not to pay for)

Keep in mind also that *no* system is perfect. Some perfectly functional phones will be down-valued to £0 by mistake, and yet still you have *no* comeback.

Other companies (Love2Recycle, and Envirofone I know of, there may be more) will return your phone if it isn't worth what you thought.

Quite frankly anyone sending a phone to someone like Redeem/Money4URMobile/Simply Drop/o2 Recycle/Metro/Most Newspaper schemes who have this "We'll quote you a price for your phone but once you post it it's we and we alone who decide what we'll actually pay you" clause needs to think about whether they're making the right choice.

A couple of quid less, possibly, for going elsewhere has got to be good value for a 100% guarantee of not being ripped off. Of course these guys can sometimes 'pay' more than Envirofone - they decide how much to pay when the phone arrives!

So rather than supporting this shady practice, how about supporting the honest phone recyclers instead?

Pretty happy with M4URM, sent them my N95 on a Friday afternoon (via their pre-paid jiffy bag) and 7 working days later the money (full £87) was available in my bank account.

Spoke to them on the phone because I had an email problem and needed to change my address, support was helpful and everything was sorted.

    Hi Krakan

We're sorry you feel this way, if you have an order numbers or transaction details I would happily look into these. Our testing is really fair across all our campaigns, we pass over 95% of items recieved but in some cases a reduction or fail is required as the device simply cannot be resold, refurbished or recycled.

We know customers are disappointed when they recieve a reduction thats why we do the 3 day send back but in real terms we only fail phones when we absolutely need to, and when we do 3 members of our testing team all evaluate the item to ensure quality control and fairness, its of a last resort we would fail.

In general terms an item will only fail if:

    Its water damaged
    Doesnt power on
    Theres screen and LCD damage

And reductions are fair in terms of the damage we see.

We actually often mystery shop and we are the fairest of the bunch when it comes to testing. We also get a high proportion of high value items like the iPhone and so ensure customers know what they can expect we have device iPhone terms which link from the phone selected pages.

Again if I can look into any experiences you have I would be glad to.

    Thanks

    Money4UrMobile team xx

    Hi CPicking!

We change our prices 3 times a week to ensure you are always getting the right price but for fully working 8gb 3g iphones you will get £177 today.

Darn... price went down £7 in that week. But all done today. I've sent the entire original package and contents - charger, instructions ...well, everything that it came with. :)

(And I remembered to enclose the iPhone)
  • Has anyone had problems getting in touch with Money for your mobile? I posted my N97 via recorded delivery on Saturday 6/2, and have not yet received confirmation that my phone has been received. I am getting no luck with tracking the parcel and have sent 3 emails to money for your mobile, asking if they can confirm receipt, but have had no response.

I am now really worrying about whether my phone has been received, or if it has been stolen en route. It would help if I could get a response to my emails.

Log into the site and you can check the progress of your order
  • thanks, it is still saying that they are awaiting receipt. I was just hoping that someone would actually reply to my email, in case the website had not been updated... guess it will either take a bit longer, or has disappeared en route :(

Oh, now you have me worried too. They've only had my phone for 2 days - but delivery is confirmed by the Post Office. And it's showing "Awaiting Receipt" on the website.

  • Hi Mimi Jane
