This company is a disgrace stacey yet still they are allowed to trade and rip people like you and me off.

********** please people take heed, they offer the best price then once they receive your handset they'll tell you it's scratched and worth much less than they first offered you before you sent it and of course to have it returned is £10 ************

I had no problem with them sent my phone in and opted for M&S vouchers as I got the most money that way. Was actually late in sending my phone back but got my vouchers within a couple of days, for the full amount. I ended up recommending them to my brother who also used them, again, no problems.
  • They've just told me that the phone I sent them was heavily scratched (which it wasn't).

I really wish I'd read this page before using them as they were only a few pound better than other sites (which don't appear to get the bad feedback this lot do).

Appears to be a scam, I'd avoid and I think MSE should remove them from their price checker site as that's where I found them.

Interestingly I complained about the new offer (£5) and a re-inspection as got a new value of £18. More interestingly this now brings the price in-line with the other companies listed on the checker:

  • Sent my Iphone 3G 8Gb off to Mobile Phone Exchange in the week. The phone was in what I considered to be perfect working order and no damage.
I registered on their site and they offered me £101, a jiffy bag (pretty flimsy affair) arrived and I duly posted it recorded delivery , there goes £6 but I was taking no chances.
Then on Saturday I get an email saying the phone was not working properly and it had cracks on the case!
I am sorry but the phone was in perfect condition and has worked perfectly since I got it.
I have now been offered £65 which is not quite what I was expecting.
I think that next time Gumtree or another local selling set up might be the answer.
    What do I do now?

It seems people are also saying they want £10 to return the phone. On the front page of their website it states the phone can be returned without charge. I would hold them to that - threating to sue for the full amount offered when you sent it - if they don't either pay up or return it free. However, only you can weigh up the risk of selling it elsewhere for more. A legal (and convincing) threat might well prompt them to offer more - though I'd state what you have stated in a LBA and claim what was offered. You will have to read their t&c carefully; no doubt they will have get-out clauses and (from an objective viewpoint) they would have a case for saying the phone is not in the correct condition for the full payment (unless you can prove otherwise).

I Sent my HTC Hd2 + Nokia 5800, as this company offered £113 for htc and £59 for nokia.

Received an email at 11pm last night, sayimg my phones were heavily scratched and £49 is there best offer.

I cant accept this for both, maybe the nokia on its own.

    What should i do?

Provided you can get better value elsewhere you could insist they honour their promise and return the phones free since they are not prepared to honour the offer they made.
  • Wish I'd read this thread before we sent our phone off to them. Like so many others, we were offered £55 for a Nokia 5800 in great condition. Sent it off, received the email today that they'd had to revise their offer due to ... yup, you guessed, heavy scratching. This is categorically not the case, but I bet it would be if I asked them to return it now.

Having to accept £30 instead, because I don't trust them not to key the front of the phone before returning it to me. My advice would be avoid, avoid, avoid.

If you do insist on using them, take photos of your phone's condition before you send it off - that's the only thing I can think of, but no doubt they'd question the validity of such evidence, since it could have been taken at any time. (Maybe lay the thing on a dated, daily newspaper before you snap it..?)
