I have a blackberry storm I don't need anymore. I did a search on the mobilevaluer page on this site. It showed that with mobilephonexchange I'd get £72. When I went to the site and did the search it only showed £56 (and that was in vouchers!). Then when I looked at the "feedback" link I see all this negative feedback. Think MSE ought to check them out before leaving them on the list.0

hi, I too went on the go compare site and chose this company cos they offered the best price. I received the envelope and took the advice to post special delivery. I heard nothing and then received an email saying they had not received the phone, I emailed them saying I had sent the phone by special delivery and then the next email said the phone had (magically) appeared.
Since then the offer was reduced by over £30 I rang and was told that the screen was badly scratched, I knew it wasnt so I argued and said the phone had a screen protector on so then Mark said he would resubmit the phone to check the price and he would email within 24hours.. he didnt so I phoned again this time I spoke to another man who said mark was busy!!! he checked with him and kept me waiting then said as a gesture of good will he was prepared to up the price, he did this twice so you can imagine I began to doubt the integrity of this company. I have asked for the phone back and have to pay £10 to get it back, if I get it back!! its a no win situation. When he upped the price at a risk to his job etc etc, I refused more on principle than anything and he seemed really shocked that I turned down the offer. will keep u posted0 -
I had a similar experience to that of salsupreme.
Recently, I sent this company a phone valued at £90. After a few days, I received an email claiming that the phone I sent them had "severe scratching" and that it needed the touchscreen replacing. As a result, they could only now offer me £25 instead. The phone had no such damage whatsoever, and had been packaged extremely well, so this was complete nonsense. After requesting my phone back they then "rechecked" my handset and offered £60 instead. I guess they'd like me to think my phone had impressive healing powers and not that they were trying to con me.
I accepted the new offer in the end due to the £10 return fee and my fear over the sort of condition my phone would be returned to me in, but I wouldn't touch this company again with a bargepole.0 -
Having used the comparison tool I chose to send my phone (Nokia 6500 slide, valued at £33, plus £1.80 cashback with Topcashback) to MPX last week. The envelope duly arrived and I chose to pay the £2.75 to record the delivery, sending the phone back the same day, well-wrapped and inside the padded bag supplied. I then found this thread with many poor reviews of the company! (Fine, my fault for not checking before I sent the phone back).
Two days later I received an email telling me that the phone had been received, but they would only pay me £18 because:
- Battery cover damaged or missing
- Casing damaged / missing
- Phone faulty
I replied immediately to say that neither the battery cover nor the casing were missing or damaged, with the exception of a couple of very slight scratches, and that the phone was working perfectly as I had used it daily up until the day I requested the recycle it with them.
This morning I have had an email offering me £20 as their 'very best offer' or the option of paying £10 for them to return the phone to me. I am assuming that this charge was detailed it the Ts and Cs, which I did read (but probably not very thoroughly).
I have sent them the following reply:
"Thank you for your email.
I will accept your revised offer, only because to pay £10 for you to return the phone to me would even further reduce the value of the phone.
Please note that I am disgusted with your so-called 'service', and will be commenting as such on the forum dedicated to rviews of your company on the Moneysavingexpert website. I am annoyed that I did not find this forum before I sent my phone to you, as the vast majority of the recent comments are expressing an equal dissatisfaction with your company. I will certainly not be using you to recycle my phones in future.
I look forward to receiving my full payment from you on or by Tuesday 18th May, as stated in your original email."
Please be very wary if you are thinking of using this company, especially if you have a high-value phone.
*Edited to add - cashback has tracked, but not yet been paid.0 -
Hi all,
I need some help and advise. I have got a very old (probably well over 12 years old) NOKIA 101 mobile phone. I saw in a previous MSE weekly email that I could get £3-50 from Mopay for any mobile phone. Unfortunately, when I go on the MOPAY site, I can't find the 101 in the model list and so I can't progress to the next page on web.
Does anyone have any ideas ?
Many thanks0 -

please remove mobilephonexchange from your mobile phone valuer. they are scammers, I should have just stuck with the companies I know and trust even if they promised a lower amount of compensation.
i sent them a perfectly working xda orbit 2 with promised payout of £35 in vouchers. they have offered me £8 due to 'severe scratching' on the touchscreen. there wasn't a single noticeable scratch on the handset.
don't make the mistake I did, AVOID mobilephonexchange!
is it worth trying to report their website to trading standards? and how would I go about doing this?0 -
According to the MSE checker, my N95 classic is worth £76 CASH.from MPX
But clicking through to thier site, it only offers £68 cash or up to £78 in vouchers.
And after reading the above reviews, I probably won't be sending them my phone.0 -

I recently looked this company up on MSE with a view to selling my no longer used blackberry. They were offering the best exchange deal. My phone was undamaged but well used. It was approximately 2 years old. I proceeded with the sale, albeit a little wary in case I sent my phone away and never heard anything ever again! I used my own jiffy bag and posted using the freepost pre-print label (from their website). I paid 74p to have the item tracked by royal mail (in case it went AWOL). I received an email from mobile phone exchange the following day to say they had received my phone and would be making checks to it. The following day, I received a further email to say they had despatched my payment and thankyou very much!
How easy is that? - I must add, I chose to receive Debenhams vouchers (to use at Christmas). When I received my card, I was then dubious if the card was valid. I checked on the Debenhams website and my card had been registered and was ready to spend!
Excellant service - would recommend very highly. :j0
