You can claim back maintenance charges? I thought if you have signed up to bank account which charges (i.e. HSBC Premier Current Account) despite being a rip off, that is what you have bought. Am I wrong? In that case why doesnt everyone sign up to accounts that charge and then claim them back

Not as a general rule but they are not providing the service that the mainteance charge is aimed at.

Quick question, so far I have had fees back from Alliance and Leicester, HSBC, natwest and I've claimed against Barclays. Barclays have filed a defence so I'm not quite sure what to do. The date of the case is 11/11/06 (I think, will have to check) does anyone have any experience of barclays and what they are likely to do?

Hi we have two cases due in court next week totaling £18,000. so as you see they do take it to the limit. but they will pay.;)
  • Hi

I am helping SIL claim back charges to the tune of £2300 with The Woolwich. They have offered £1000 as a full and final offer without blaim etc and the time/date has now run out. I sent a letter 3 weeks ago stating she wasnt willing to accept the £1000 but would accept it as a part payment towards the £2300 she is reclaiming. They sent back a letter stating still only £1000 but as a full offer etc-they suggested that if this was still unacceptable that it would need to go to court.

I have gone onto the money claim online and will cost £120 which I assume is recoverable:confused: My questions are:

(1)What do I fill in when they ask for info when doing the money claim thingy-do I just put reclaiming excessive bank charges:confused:
(2)Which is the best way to post this-special delivery?
(3)Will it actually go to court as she doesnt have a clue and Im disabled (right pair:rotfl: ), or do Barclays pay up beforehand?

    Any advice appreciated.

    Thanks

Hi, you need the template from consumer corner or one of the other forums,
you dont need to post the claim form it is all done online. it will be submitted at the end of it all. and yes you get the £120 back. it wont get into court, they will pay up before that. ;)

Just a quick question, and my apologies if this has been answered previously - if I'm claiming for, say a £39 charge, will I get the full £39 back, or £39 minus the £12 figure that the OFT have said is fair? (Think I've got that right!!)

hi, if you stick with it to the end you will get the full £39, they may offer £27 but you will refuse it ;)
  • Hi
Has anybody had any dealings with Lloyds TSB with regard claiming unfair bank charges. My claim has been going on for some time now and I have just received a letter from the courts stating that this claim is stayed until 13 november 2006 (TSB entered a defence and asked for an extra month) the month is almost up now but I have heard nothing from my bank. Can anybody advise me please on the likely outcome of this (I am feeling as though I will not win this claim)

Any advice will be greatly appreciated

If you check out the CAG forums for the templates you will find there that if you are on benefits do check with your local court as you may be eligible for exemption of fees :)

hi, the adjourning for the extra month is to settle the matter out of court if they havent attempted this you can complain to the courts. you can also appeal against the stay.
