I am afraid I must disagree with you. You absolutely must not wait until the bank is good and ready. If you write threatening legal action if you do not get the desired result within 14 days (your specified deadline) then you must do what you said you would and commence proceedings. If we make empty threats, they will continue to take these liberties.0 -

They replied within the 14 days with a standard "sorry you're not happy we are looking into it" letter and have said they'll reply within 4 weeks. What do I do now? Do I wait to hear from them again or start court action.
I agree with shaun1977 and bettyb. We are clearly advised that it is to our timetable that the bank must stick, not the other way round. Otherwise that makes a mockery of giving a time limit in the first place. You should have stated "if you do not comply fully within 14 days court action will be taken" as laid out in the CAG template. If this is the case, you have not stated that they must REPLY but COMPLY within 14 days. They have not, so start a claim.Littlewoods catalogue - won back charges of £300 by default.

Is that the amount you requested?Littlewoods catalogue - won back charges of £300 by default.

Hi All,
This is my very first time here, but the responses are so useful and nice I decided to ask my own question:
I've been with Lloyds TSB for almost 6 years and been punished with their charges very often. I am about to send out my first letter asking for the statement on charges etc.
However, I can access my statements online back to 2004 and I found that there was quite a few 'Returned Direct Debit' charge (some of them around £120). Can I claim these back too?
Also Lloyds TSB charge £7/month for account maintainence which I find a bit steep as I don't even receive paper statements and have no overdraft facility. Can I claim these?
I am trying to claim the penalty charges on my Credit Card, too (Lloyds TSB again).
Thank you very much for your time!:wave:Lloyds TSB Current Account-Data Protection Act S.A.R - (Subject Access Request) sent 27 Oct 2006- Letter Before Action sent 5 Jan 2007 :dance:HSBC - Fully settled!:T

£1050.00 was charges, I also had about £200.00 which I asked for in interest but that was for living in my overdraft. They said they would not pay the interest but would refund the charges. All of this was actioned from one letter. On the day I sent them a follow up letter I received the settlement letter so I had to write to them again asking them to ignore my second letter.0 -

If you are happy with the amount they have offered, then I would accept it, at least then you have that. Then try again for the charges since they made the offer, and remind them that you will do the same for any future charges. In some cases I have heard of banks stop applying penalty charges to the accounts of some people who have taken it the distance with old charges.
Any other ideas out there?Littlewoods catalogue - won back charges of £300 by default.

You can claim back maintenance charges? I thought if you have signed up to bank account which charges (i.e. HSBC Premier Current Account) despite being a rip off, that is what you have bought. Am I wrong? In that case why doesnt everyone sign up to accounts that charge and then claim them backLittlewoods catalogue - won back charges of £300 by default.
