  • You can go back 6 years in England and Wales, 5 in Scotland. Check out the CAG Forums for slightly different wording in your letter in the case of a business account :)
  • So gonna have to start the court proceeding thing - this should be fun - I am useless when it comes to things like this - am I right in thinking I have to go to moneyclaim back or something like that - and send them a list of my charges - awww this is soooo scarey  cannot believe I have been with HSBC all these years and they've not even acknowledge my letter - sent recorded delivery too - even Capital One, Mint and GE money acknowledged me - I have a mortgage and credit cards ith HSBC too so they are making loads of money out of me - soon be time for a switch I think

    hey there,

just to let you know I am banking with HSBC and after the two 14 day time li its otherwise court action begins i have just received a letter about 3 days after the deadline offering me full settlement but without the interest. I dont know whether to accept this. they will pay
  • Hi there,

Just wanted to ask you a question. I have just received a letter from the HSBC saying that they will refund my charges of £450 but without the interest. they say that the interest is in their conditions and that if i decline their offer then they say that if the claim proceeded to court then they believe they would successfully rersist any legal challenge in relation to these fees.

Its only for £72 extra. is it worth going for as they say the £450 is full and final settlement.

    Appreciate any help.

Another question. I've just got my letter together to send tomorrow - but I'm a bit concerned about the wording. I used the letter from the CAG website, but uses language that I wouldn't. Has anyone else felt unsure about sending the letter, or have you just changed the wording ab it?

You'll be okay sending the letter, they will have received hundreds of them all the same :)

Thanks Edinburghlass, I just feel a bit of a fraud, because it's not how I would correspond. But like you said, I should just forget about it, and send the letter anyway.

I've emailed it to work so that I can print it tomorrow and send via recorded delivery.

Last Friday was the 28th day that the Abbey had to respond to the moneyclaim court. They have acknowledged the claim but i don't know what to do now, do i just leave things progressing or do i have to do something else now?????

    Thanks in advance
