But I am sure I have seen in small print that the bank are allowed to charge if you go over drawn esp when you have signed agreement
they can charge you for being overdrawn but not when it is because of penalties. an they can only charge an arrangement fee for the service not penalise you for it and make a profit, so we claim the unauthorised overdraft fee back on that basis.0 -

Sorry I am a bit thick but I still don't get it.
If I can remember correctly I was over drawn by a pound bank charged me £30.
When I couldn't pay that in time they charged me another £30.
So in autual fact the last £30 was wrong? I claim the last £30 back?
What if I went over drawn on pupose? ie on a night out drunk and overdrawn my money. they charge you the first £30 which is correct?
Hope you understand what I am saying as I find all this a bit confusing.
When it comes to computers I am a nerd and find it easy but money and bank charges confuse me.
Banks get away with it with people like me (except pc world)While I breathe.... I hope0 -

hi nope you claim both the £30's back they are both classed as a penalty, have a look at www.!!!!!!.uk all the answers and letters you need are there.
if you do it on purpose then it is wrong but by law they are still not allowed to make a profit from you via a charge for this.0 -

Hi,
Believe it or not it was a customer service advisor at my bank who first (off the record) pointed out that I could claim back charges. Due to a lot of money problems I had been charged £1200 over only 4 months and as such had written to the bank complaining. That was 3 weeks ago and I have yet to hear back but on investigating further am now wondering about going back the full 6 years (which would probably double this at least). Would it do me any harm to pursue this current amount first then try for the older stuff?
Also I notice theres not been many replies to the Scottish queries and just wondered if anyone had pursued RBS and what luck they'd had - or not.
Thanks very much0 -
