There is an online moneyclaim site for NI.
I can't remember it now, but if you come over to the consumeractiongroup.co.uk forum, there are links to specific NI claims etc...0 -
After reading lots of posts in regards to Halifax's unfair bank charges I decided to fight my own corner with my unfair charges.
The Halifax have charged me about £1000 in the last year for going over my overdraft limit. Some days I had been charged £90 in one day in charges.
I wrote to them saying that the charges were unfair and unlawful and I received a standard letter back then a more personal letter stating that the charges were NOT unlawful and that I should learn to manage my account better. But as a gesture of goodwill they have offered me £300 if I take this they basically said I will have to shut up about it and never mention it again.
What shall I do? Should I accept the £300 or should I keep fighting?

OK, nasty letter back from the Clydesdale now (it's taken nearly 2 months) saying that they will counter-sue if I take any action.
Anyone else have Clydesdale experience? I'd like to know whether to proceed, or just give up. I'm looking at around £3000, so obviously I don't want to give up, but having a) got divorced, and b) moved this year, I really can't cope with any more stress either.
Advice gratefully received.

I have only been with alliance and leicester for a short while, about 4 months, and they are ripping me off left right and centre, ther charges have alredy got me into a vicious circle to the extent I am cancelling bills just to put the brakes on slightly. Too early days to complain officially? Or should I freeze my account and go elsewhere?Member no.1 of the 'I'm not in a clique' group :rotfl:

Ok, so I thought I'd be a smart !!!! and have a go at Halifax for £970 of bank charges. followed procedures religously and lodged a claim on 31st August which has been deemed as sent on 5th September. Today got a letter from Northampton County Court saying Halifax had acknowledged the claim and intended to defend it and would lodge their defence within 28 days. I am absolutely
Not being a confrontational person the thought of a court hearing with a halifax legal eagle terrifies me
Can anyone tell me if they have had the same happen to them and if so what happened after this?I am a Mortgage Adviser

I'm assuming counter sue for the amount of the account charges (already paid...).
They're not desperately clear what for, just threatening retaliatory action.
Do I proceed, or do I give up? I'm not sure I can cope with the extra hassle.0 -
Ok so i finally after exactly 40 days! recieved my statements, i went through them and picked out all my unauthorised overdraft charges, but i noticed some other charges while i was looking and i'm wondering if i can count those in with my claim, there was "overdraft fee" which was from when i first opened the account and they charged me £5 a month to have a £500 overdraft with them.... there was "overdraft interest" for various amounts each month and also when i moved to america for a year - each time id made a withdrawal over there the charged me £1.50 per transaction (at first it stated "charge for continued use in USA" them in change to "commision" can i claim all these back too?
I know theres also an account fee on there but im pretty sure i already know i cant claim that back and need to cancel it with barclays.
Thanks in advance for all your help0 -
Can Anyone help me we have a few debts and we are trying to sort them with paylan,
The only problem is they have frozen the intrest but we dont get any staements showing what we owe anymore so we are in the dark.
What i want to know is how easy is it to manage the debs themselves?
Also is there any way that some company will redue some of the debt like vodafone, they sold us 1 fones on the account and they instore promised us fhalf price line rental for 6 months, the first bill came and it wasnt on there so i rang tem and they said that it wasnt on the acount but if we go back in to the store the member of staff might remember serving you and the will be able to rectify the problem.
We tried this and they deniyed offering the discount.
Vodafone said we were liable for the account, we have paid them towards the phone calls and because the line rental was in diute they closed the acount and sent us a bill for 18month of line rental.
Is this fair as we are having to pay for 18 months line rental but due to there mes up we are paying for something that we are not recieving.
Please help!
I have only joined this moning so i apologise if i have put this in the wrong place:j WILL GET THERE SOON :j
