It's not a case of not accepting it - it's your attitude.
Yeah we don't all accept each other's opinions, but when someone, ie me goes back to you to disagree, your attitude is "shoot him down".
Do you expect me to be all warm and friendly when your first post was slating me??
I've still given you advice that really you didn't deserve.
Remember I know the bed industry, so most of the information that I give is facts. Most of what you say is a personal opinion. And from what you have said you have very little (if any) knowledge of the bed industry.
All of your posts since joining MSE have been in this thread. This makes me wonder if you are just one of the trolls who has been previously banned under another name. And has come back to start another argument.0 -
Well Tim, From reading through this forum yet again, reading the responses of people and your frankly very ill informed opinions I would suggest that you maybe think about paying a visit to Dreams, Bensons, Sleepmasters, John Lewis and any other multiple you can think of to learn about their products before you slag them off, you may be surprised. As for your comment about Non Turn mattresses not lasting as long as two sided mattresses each of the retailers my wife and I visited told us that they would last as long and that only the bottom end of the market make mattresses that need to be turned. This advice came from both Multiples and Independants. Sounds to me like you are selling cheap mattresses???
Maybe you should stop giving advice about something you seem to know very little about as you could end up damaging your own business, especially if someone was to associate you with a certain online bed retailer!0 -

I'm very sorry, but it is you who has been taken in by sales hype from the sales staff in the shops you visited. I'm afraid that many sales staff rely on customers who have no knowledge of mattress construction to tell them whatever they want in order to get the customer to buy the product that pays them the most commision.
For example: If there are two mattresses that are identical except for the fact that one is non turn, and the other is two sided. Then due to the non turn mattress only having quilting on one side it will be cheaper to produce, and will therefore be cheaper for the shop to buy. So if sales staff can sell the non turn mattress for the same price as the 2 sided one, then they get more commision.
Many sales staff are actually trained to sell mattresses that won't last as long, because it means that in the long run they sell more.
The only reason that some mattresses are made non turn it to cut production costs, as they only put quilting on one side of the mattress.
Ignore what the sales staff tell you, and use your own common sense. Any mattress that can be used in 4 different positions is going to wear more evenly than one that can only be used in two positions.
So as your knowledge of the bed industry comes from sales staff who are trying to sell you something, and my knowledge comes from being in the bed industry, then you really should keep your personal insults to yourself.0 -
I would like to see some more independent testing from Which? on durability of mattresses comparing lots more spring and foam than their last test over 4 years ago.0

So would I. The trouble is that there are so many manufacturers, and so many models on the market, that which can only test a tiny proportion. So they obviously go for the big brands. The trouble is that they tend to be the worst as far as quality goes. This is mainly down to automation of production, and cutting the quality of the components in order to cut production costs.0 -
Try using common sense rather than just trying to get the thread closed.0 -
You see guys - you try and ask a question to show some evidence of fact to back up all the "bed industry" information - which no store I have ever been in will agree with, and you get something rather silly back.
Both myself and all others who have written here, await the evidence, still.0 -

Either take my word for it, or use common sense (it doesn't take rocket science to work it out), or ignore my advice as someone in the bed industry with inside knowledge.
And stop trying to get the thread closed.:mad:0 -
Nope - how about you give us evidence. You tell us that turnable mattresses are the best. Yet I cannot find a single high quality, support, comfortable mattress in the high-end range that is turnable. Go for a cheapy (less that £180, and yes, you can find them. But compared with some I have tried (SilentNight miracoil 7 2100 pocket which was VERY supportive), they are rubbish.
Hence my request for you or anyone here who thinks turnable are best (I am not pointing fingers), to prove it.0 -

Making a mattress turnable or not in no way makes any difference to comfort. It makes a huge difference however to the life of the mattress. This is common sense.
If you contunally compress the same spring, or the same bit of quilting it will wear out. If you spread the use out by alternating which areas of the mattress are used, then the mattress as a whole will last far longer.
Now I have answered this question, so please don't ask it again.
If you don't like my answer then ignore me and go and make your own mistakes. The choice is yours.0
