Gosh, you must have nothing else to do than sit at your computer reading all my previous posts to see what you can come up with. I guess I should take that as a compliment.

If you had read that post properly, you would see that I have a Golden Retriever, who, like all retrievers, likes to swim in muddy water. This is the dog who occasionally has an odour problem, and does not get through to the rest of my house, as I recently laid new carpets. You are quite good at twisting things to suit your posts aren't you? My papillons do not like mud however...in fact, it is a problem getting them to go outside if it is raining, and they are allowed free roam of the house. I am fortunate enough to live in the middle of nowhere - where my dogs can run and play constantly in our huge garden/woods behind the house etc throughout the day, and are not confined to my kitchen, as you seem to want to make out.

    Deary me.

And I am more than used to poop and piddle in my kitchen, having had a quite a number of litters...ALL of whom the owners I found before the matings were even done, all of whom I am still in touch with, get regular photos and updates, and all of whom agreed when they took a pup to have that pup spayed, and none of who have dumped that pup on the streets.

Your just have to accept that most people on this board have concerns over breeding of dogs and any posts concerning breeding are going to be met with the same response.

Totally, totally goes against the ethos of this board, where all people should be able to post on any subject, without fear of abuse.

If people don't want to discuss breeding - fair enough! But, why not just stay off those threads, and leave those of us who do, alone. Why should you, and others here tell us to stay off the boards as the 'majority don't accept our views'? How arrogant! I don't want to discuss Endowment Policies, or Benefits and Tax Credits....so I just don't comment! I certainly don't go onto threads and leave bullying unhelpful comments, or tell them to go to a more appropriate board to find help.

so, as the numbers of people breeding dogs increases, so do the numbers of dogs being got rid of...

same old problem, more dogs than good homes.

I hate the comments "most" and " the majoriety". I wish people would take ownership of their own views and not speak for everyone. I hope no one is speaking for me

FC - It was posted as a factual response to yours and others comments about many responsible breeders 'temporarily suspending breeding' in the current economic climate.

Alas, thats always been the way :(

And there will forever people wanting pedigree dogs, from 8 week old pups, from breeders they have taken the time to get to know and build a relationship with

The two statements, ie. that some responsible breeders have suspended breeding for the time being, and that The breeding of dogs is growing in popularity are not mutually exclusive though are they, sadly?

You could hypothesize that dog breeding is growing in popularity as some people see it as a way to make a quick buck from resources they already have.

Which has probably been happening since man first domesticated the dog, and will continue to happen as long as there are people who don't care about responsible breeding. Having a go at breeders won't change that.

You talk about changing things for good, and yet all I see is the situation being
made worse with blinkered, black and white views and so many fingers being pointed at the wrong people.

How does that make the situation worse? (I presume you are talking about the unwanted dog problem?)

I dont think anyone has 'had a go' at you.

Many of the dogs in pounds and rescues will have been bred by someone, especially those such as the 126 purebreds people have tried to hand in to the Mayhew in January, and the Weimeraner, Rotweiler and GSD in the local pound here this week.

Accidental matings are now far less common that they once were, as fewer dogs roam, due to tighter controls. I cannot say how many of the breeders of the dogs mentioned above considered themselves responsible, yet they are intrinsically part of the problem, like it or not.
