>>It's the people who are doing this kind of breeding that something needs to be done about.<<
And the people who are so intent on producing the best winning show dog that they will line breed, or inbreed to get the traits they want - often ending up - as in the case of the KCC spaniel - in traits that are catastrophic for the dog.
NONE of us want that.
Look, we can discuss this till the cows come home (which Errata probably delivered) but really, lets read Frugal's post again....can we not just - as animal lovers with our animals interests at heart - live and let live, and just get on with each other??
Edit: And post #70Life.

No doubt the Depression will bring about stasis in the domestic pets world. Who knows, we may even see horse meat shops opening up again..................
....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

I imagine reading the classified ads, which list pups for several hundred quid each have a far greater impact on the perceptions of the profits of breeding than anything I do (or don't) say!
Me and my ilk! lol:rotfl: I didn't know I had an ilk!!
You are making assumptions actually  - I didn't say just on this thread, you do it at every opportunity. Sorry, I don't know how to do multiple quotes so I have cut these comments of yours from another thread (actually, I got to page 17 and then got bored.
not particularly, but someone does need to slow the moneygrabbing breders down. Too many unwantd dogs and breeding just fuels the problem.
most breeders KC registered or otherwise are driven by money
I do wonder if breeders would welcome any form of regulation - presumably they think this will cramp their style or moneymaking potential?
actively creating more dogs to sell for money
if breeders (inc. back street breeders and puppy farmers) were not making money out of it that they would not continue
people do breed predominantly for money
people undoubtedly make a lot of money from it
It seems that (as usual) you are spoiling for a fight ."Men are generally more careful of the breed(ing) of their horses and dogs than of their children" - William Penn 1644-1718

Spoiling for a fight? You say that as if it was being discussed. If you are referring to my smiley....it was not meant to inflame, it was applause to Frugal for saying something I agree with.

It was being discussed -learn to read the posts properly and then maybe you wouldn't read what you think you see rather than what is actually there. It aint over til I've done singing....0 -
