A question about this board, and the BG's.

I am rather angry about a thread of mine which was closed. I asked for the thread to be deleted, which means that all comments would be unable to be read.

However, the board guide in question, in my opinion, has abused their position as board guide. It would appear that the particular BG involved is very anti breeding, which is what my OP was about. Surely, this BG should have remained neutral. It would also appear that a number of posts were quickly edited by the people in disagreement with me, before the thread was closed, which makes for a very unbalanced read to anyone looking at it now.

I may or may not have any credibility on MSE, but I certainly do not want to be portrayed as Cruella De Ville character.

I am extremely disappointed by this board, and will be making a formal complaint.

  • I assumed it was closed because you had asked for it to be deleted, BGs do not have the power to do that, so it was closed as an interim measure, whilst advice was given to you to contact abuse as they can delete the thread.

As for posts being edited, I can only see two posts in the entire thread which show they have been edited, one of them is yours, both were edited just minutes after they were posted. The one post (other than yours) which was edited by it's author was edited before any responses had been made to it anyway.

This suggests the editing was to correct an error, or to re-word, not something done retrospectively to make you look bad in any way. .

I suggest you contact abuse, as you were advised to by the BG.

I asked for a thread of mine to be deleted by the BG on another board ( it contained information from another poster that could have identified the family being discussed.) It was deleted immediately.

In my opinion, the BG was far too quick to close the thread, commenting 'have a nice evening' and locking the thread before allowing me to reply to any of her comments. This is an abuse of her position, as is disagreeing with a post and locking it for that reason.

And I can assure you, whether it showed up in the edits box or not (perhaps they can also be changed?) a number of posts in that thread appear to me to have now been 'softened' to show me in a bad light.

I don't think 'have a nice evening' can be construed to be offensive.

You asked for the thread to be deleted, Mrs T said she was unable to, so would close it instead, and advised you to contact abuse re: deletion.

Perhaps reading them in the cold light of day, they are not as emotive or contentious as you felt they were last night?

I read the thread last night, and again today, in light of your comments, and cannot see any difference in content or tone.

In my opinion, the BG was far too quick to close the thread, commenting 'have a nice evening' and locking the thread before allowing me to reply to any of her comments. This is an abuse of her position, as is disagreeing with a post and locking it for that reason. If you ask to have a thread deleted, you can't expect them to read it & then wait about in case you want to add to it, no doubt if they had've you'd then be complaining that they didn't even lock it!

And I can assure you, whether it showed up in the edits box or not (perhaps they can also be changed?) a number of posts in that thread appear to me to have now been 'softened' to show me in a bad light. Or maybe you are now reading them as they were intended to be, as in to help you. The edit box shows whenever a post is edited, you can choose to put a reason for that edit or to leave it blank but it still shows. ONLY mine & yours were edited, believe it or not people aren't out to get you, you had me try to help, then went asking for it to be deleted, BG's can't delete it so the BG who closed it told you it'd be referred to abuse to be deleted as you requested.

    Steph

Don't worry i'm sure if you asked for it to be deleted they will do so.

Just for reference (I don't know if it's changed) did you know you can delete any thread that you have started without waiting for abuse to delete it for you?

As far as I remember *delves back into the mists of time* if you edit your first post it gives you the option to delete it I think. You may have to explore all the advanced options though.

FYI - as BG my oppions are mine and not those of MSE as my signature clearly states - that means I have the same rights as other users to free speech and an individual oppion and you have the same rights to report any post I make or any action I take as you do with any other poster on the forums.
I closed the thread because you asked for it to be deleted and I did advise you on how to get the thread deleted if you so wished.
And then I wished you a nice evening, not quite sure why that particular line would have offended but I'm sorry if it did
I have asked Abuse to investigate this thread as well as the other thread in case you have not reported it already.

MrsTine, it didn't offend me. It just seemed you were giving a short, sharp 'thank you and goodnight' comment without allowing me to post again.

  • I think if anyone has any reason to feel aggrieved here, it is the BG and the other posters who you have inferred have acted in an underhand manner.

OMG This is ridiculous ,are you seriously causing trouble because people said you may not get the answers you wish to get?
I ve read all 3 of your threads through your history and can find no abuse. There are how ever conflicts of opinions.
Op just leave it ,don t spark things up again by creating 2 new threads about something you don t want read.It just draws attenion to it.
