A question about this board, and the BG's.

How many people who have posted on here actually know what the gadget in question is?
(before they rushed to google it) .
It seems that as soon as the OP mentioned breeding her dog that the "usual suspects" were out in droves to give her the benefit of their opinion on breeding, totally ignoring the original question.
Nobody knows (other than the OP) how well bred or highly titled her dog is; nobody else knows how much research she has done; nobody else knows if she is keeping all the pups or has homes waiting. Nobody else knows anything about this as it is nobody elses' business!! She asked about a product - nothing more - if you know nothing about said product, why post?
And as for telling her to go use another forum - why should she? All these forums are frequented by a diverse range of people - why should she not be able to ask a moneysaving question on this site? It states at the top of the page that this forum is open to all - unfortunately there are people on here who don't seem to understand that  ."Men are generally more careful of the breed(ing) of their horses and dogs than of their children" - William Penn 1644-1718

Hi everyone
I had a look at the original thread and I decided to remove it.
I think there were a lot of crossed wires which didn't help matters.
It looks to me as though things are starting to calm down though so let's put this one behind us and move on. I'm glad to hear the original poster has received the help they were looking for.

Of course she doesn't have to post on another forum, but I think it's well known that most here don't breed & so a suggestion that a breeding forum may be able to help more, but that it's fine here too, isn't a problem but helpful IMO. If I posted here about something many of us may not know about, and someone said why not try x, I would! You just said yourself in your post how many of us know what it is, before googling. Well, that says to me you think we don't know which supports maybe using a forum alongside here that might!
And yes, i've seen other forums referred too, i've seen netmums or something recommended, I can't give breeding forum names or recommendations as I don't breed, but a suggestion that they may know more isn't a bad one it's a fact.
As I already explained & you obviously didn't bother to read, as you ask why post, i'll explain again, because I thought the OP was new & know how these threads end up & didn't want her getting abuse/hassled! I give up!

You would be surprised at the number of people who have PM'd me that are dog breeders, who come here for MS information about their dogs, but know that because the majority (as you say) are so vociferously anti breeding that they just keep quiet.
Shame.
Just to balance this point a bit, my mother was a dog breeder and I'm reasonably invloved with the dog breeding and showing world. Lots of really, really good, internationally recognised breeders with waiting lists for their dogs have decided to cut back on breeding.
My dogs mother was bestgirl in her breed at crufts this year and the breeder thinks my girl is better still, yet she is not planning further litters from this girl and neither am I from mine ATM. My girl is as yet unshown and is a new breed to me, but I'm not a novice to the world, and in fact showed a third breed of dog this year at Crufts, my friend's dogs.
I am in no way against dog breeding, I've been brought up with it, but to ignore the current economic climate and the increased pressures on all breeds from the increasing concern of the breeding practises in some breeds is not good practise, nor, come to that, good moneysaving, (not that that matters in this scheme of things). And the repurcussions breeding, all breeding, good and bad, can have is relevant to a discussion, whether people with breeding experience and sympthy, like me, like it or not.
FWIW I wouldn't choose this board to ask about showing/breeding my dogs because like many invloved in showing/breeding I have a pretty good network of advice, advice that stands for something because the people who give it are recognisable..not nameless people on a DB who don't know me or my dog more than I know them or their dogs.

Well, I do know what it is, though I've not used itI think my points in my post above this stand.
I absolutely think she, and people like me, should be able to ask, but I think we have to listen to the answers as well.0 -

Yes, I know you said to warn her about breeding/rescue arguements - but surely by doing that you are inflaming the situation?) which supports maybe using a forum alongside here that might!

(So you agree that the anti-breeders do abuse/hassle those that chose to do so?) I give up!

I'm just asking why people didn't answer the OP question about the MateTel gadget? If people had just done that and not started preaching the rights and wrongs (in their opinions) of breeding - then the thread wouldn't have developed as it did ."Men are generally more careful of the breed(ing) of their horses and dogs than of their children" - William Penn 1644-1718

I most definitely agree that a good majority, maybe all, threads that mention Rescue or Breeding Dogs turn out to be either for or against & a slanging match between the two sides. I was hoping that it wouldn't come to that yet again & maybe next time i'll just speak to the person in PM so as to not encourage it all, but I so rarely use PM's it's not something i'd think of doing, especially with a person I don't know.0

I agree , too many times people wade in with their opinions that have nothing to do with the question asked0 -

I agree, but if some one asked on another board of MSE where they could find a loan shark, I would hope people would point out concerns as readily as they would indicate where to look. The current climate is relevant IMO. (no offence intended, and no mean to sya people like US who breed/have bred are akin to loan sharks!, )0
