apparently I like power metal (Dragonforce) and pop punk (Bowling for Soup) but if anyone asked me if I liked punk or metal I'd say no!0

Oh I have to share this little gem with you...
We have a VW Passat CC - you may or may not know it's so packed full of gadgets it's not even funny but ONE of them is that unless you put your seatbelt on it won't release the handbrake (which is automatic - there is no stick...).
So hubby has been using it for work whilst I'm on ML - fair enough - and on his way to the office this morning he drives past a police car which promptly does a U-turn and follows him. Now he knows he isn't speeding (traffic is only allowing him to do 20mph, he's not on the mobile and he knows the car is taxed and insured... so he's a little puzzled to be pulled over...
Officer comes up to the window "Scuse me sir, do you know why I've pulled you over?" Husband thinks about it - can think of no particular reason and so honestly says no...
"Well sir as I drove past you you didn't have your seatbelt on." Apparently the officer wasn't impressed when husband promptly bursts out laughing and says "I beg your pardon officer but I think you'll find I were..." So husband offers for the officer to sit in the car and try to drive off without a seatbelt... Slightly puzzled officer gets in the car and tries to roll it forward, bit more gas... bit more... car AIN'T budging and large warning is flashing on the dash telling him to belt up to release parking brake! Husband standing next to car with huge grin on his face trying not to laugh out loud again... Officer gets out of car and says "Fair enough... I was sure you weren't wearing your seatbelt but quite obviously you were as the car was driving... Never seen that before! They should install that in ALL cars!"
Made hubbys day that's for sure! :rotfl:DFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!
My DFW Diary - blah- mildly funny stuff about my journey0 -

Ps grunge metal started in the 1990's with bands like Nirvana and Pearl Jam.0 -
Mabel I was thinking WTC if you packed in your paid employment and went self employed.
Have had a thoroughly sh1tty day - the power went off last night at 22.10 and didnt come back on til 13.10 today:mad: I fumbled around in the dark and found my wind up torch so at least I had some light and was able to read a book in the dark:rolleyes: I didnt shift myself out of bed other than to visit the bathroom and raid the biscuit tin - it was warm in bed and I didnt fancy going out although I need to as I need to get petrol. Decided to put some washing on and then went back to the machine after half an hour to switch it to extra spin to find two lights on and the red light saying call for service:mad: pushed the on button again and the red light went out so the machine started again..making a horrid noise and you could hear it filling with water then I could smell burning oil so I promptly switched it off and called the nice repair man who came out last time I was having problems. Am supposed to be on a course on Monday but can see myself staying in and Tuesday I have an early morning panto followed by an 11am appointment at the dayspa for facial etc as I need a treat before I go out at night:rolleyes:
Hope you all have a good day. BTW grunge metal isnt v.nice (these chaps also wear hoodies which gives them away).0 -
Hi Horace, sounds like you had a nightmare with the washing machine- hope it gets sorted.
And I'm being dense but what does WTC stand for ?0 -
working tax credits0

Thanks star :-)
I looked into it and they are paid going on what you earned in the year before so not entitled to anything unfortunately. Even if I wasn't earning anything OH's wages aren't miles away from the limit. I don't want to rely on him for anything so need to have some guaranteed money coming in.0 -
I have a similar prob in that my OH earns too much.. but not enough to pay all our bills, rent and all my debt repayments0
-
Yep same here, so frustrating as only need about £50 a week but can't rely on the business- earned nothing for 2 months now ( wedding jewellery business)0

Hi all..the washing machine man will be here on Monday at 10am so I have to sort out the pantry (remove a shelf and the stuff on the shelf) - I have had to cancel the course I was due to go on:rolleyes: Had yet more washing to do but that has been done by hand and some is drip drying in the living room over a bin liner and the rest (jeans) are slung over the shower rail.
Not sure what to suggest about your jewellery Mabel - have you done any christmas fairs lately? Just a thought really as your jewellery can be used for all occasions not just weddings.
Am trying to get enthusiastic about the run for heroes thing, the band and my coursework - I have nothing about any of these projects this week:rolleyes:0
