hi mrstine, they certainly wont laugh at you for earning less than £600 a year, ive been registered for 2 years but due to getting pregnant only working for 4 months so ive been running at nothing for 2 years, they just send you your self assesment and things go from there. I found i had to make my contributions for the first 2 quarters then they told me i didnt make enough so i dont have to pay for about 2 years or something, i tried to get reduced rates but they advised me not to as i could claim maternity allowance despite not eearning, wich was fantastic.
Cant help on any other areas im araid but the others will be able to.
oh and welcome to our little room, everyones a great bunch on here.back to comping in 2017, fingers crossed :beer:0 -
Thanks JP
I think the area that confuses me the most is I have a FT job which pays ok (highlight if you're nosey £35k ) but I figure that £600 a year is better than nothing and frankly every penny will come in handy when I return to work as childcare every year is going to be close to £10k! That btw is good value for around here for the number of hours we need and with my salary I can't afford to not return to work - but even if I only earn £600 extra (minus any tax) then it's extra and could either help with being DF sooner or pay for some little treats
As they say... every little helps!

thanks again il look at that sort of thing as well.
as for the old rock bands you just cant beat em! im up in bromsgrove to see an old mate next month and he says some of the bands and venues are good
Bromsgrove is the pits..just a high street with no decent shops and you have to pay for parking - no free parking to be had unless you go and park on Sanders Park where parking is free and its a short walk to town. I grew up in Bromsgrove, went to school there and my parents still live there although they don't shop there not since the wretched council put the pensioners' parking permits up from £32 pa. to £300 p.a because they tend to have nicer cars:mad:0 -
MrsT - a tip from me - don't tell the HMRC that you have been working on a self employment basis as they will slam you with a £100 fine if they think you have been working on a self employed basis for a long time. You can be both employed and self employed..you will pay class 2 NI and class 4, you complete a self assessment each year (the HMRC run free courses on how to do this) and you are taxed on your profits.
As for getting very little - don't fret about it as I have been living on working tax credits since the beginning of May (£50.85 a week:eek:).
Welcome to the SE board MrsT..its nice to have you here:D
Angel - I hope you manage to sort our your computer problems..are you running out of disk space as that can sometimes make your computer go slow, although dont quote me because I am a technophobe.0 -

In that case MrsT - register now - they have done away with the 3 month leeway. They can be quite nice at the HMRC.0
