Hi, you are worrying too much, there is nothing that can happen 'down the line' and you will get any quidco cashback if you follow quidco's advice.

These prices are possible because the networks pay these retailers massive commisions to keep up their customer numbers.

On £21.50p per month you are paying over £500 for the contract, about £100 of this will go towards the actual tariff and £400 towards the phone, however remember that the retailers probably get these phones for about half the retail price.

If you were buying straight from the network this would all be extra profits in the networks pockets.

As an example I had one contract with automatic cashback for £25/month ( total £600) where I got a phone that retailed at £100 with over £400 total cashbacks. So by offering redemption deals they can offer much higher cashbacks than that on the basis that a certain percentage of customers are so inept that they will not meet the terms and conditions and therefore lose the cashback.

On a different note, the networks very occasionally have special deals which just go to show how much they make on their normal prices. Last year ,for instance, T-Mobile had an offer for a phone that retailed around £170 with £40 quidco cashback for £10/month. So the tariff which was 600/500/unlimited cost £30 in total for 2 years use of the tariff.

Another with vodafone had a phone that I sold to envirofone for £200 with £80 cashback for £13/month, again £30 total for 2 years use of the tariff.

I think this is far too optimistic statement for any cashback and especially for quidco.
Personally I prefer TCB that are more reliable and more customer-oriented.

Hi I too prefer topcashback but also use quidco depending on the amount.I can honestly say that I have not had a single cashback failure with either quidco or topcashback during the last couple of years, successfully claiming £1800 and £1350 respectively.

Thanks for the great answers, it's done a good job of allaying some of the questions I had regarding this deal. It is certainly remarkable how much cheaper they can go by this method and makes you wonder why anyone goes direct to the network at all nowadays, although I suppose if that was the case then the network would just bump up the commission it charges these comparison/deal sites.

I get a slightly better deal through TCB. Honestly though, I'll keep an open mind and essentially plan on not getting the money; that way if it is successful it'll be a nice reward but if not it'll come as no big surprise.

If I can get the order sorted out soon I may even have it by tomorrow, although I'll still need to go through the hassle of getting a PAC code out of my current network with their inevitable grovelling questions to win me back. I'll post back any updates here if anything goes awry. Ta.

Edit: Also, I'm just reading some posts here from last year, is there any risk on this contract if BMP were to go bankrupt, as was stipulated may be possible in the current financial circumstances? I can't see how I'd lose out, but I haven't been around the block on these sorts of things.

Not in your case. (Assuming you accept your cashback won't be forthcoming if this happens)

Hi, if they went bust and there was cashback involved then you would lose it but as far as a straight forward purchase there is no risk, as soon as you have the phone the contract is with the network not the retailer.

As I said earlier you are worrying far too much !!

Indeed, it's just the way I am when parting with money to a company I haven't used before and has a few negative reviews, so thanks for your patience. I went ahead and ordered, they said order before 6PM and it'll be here by tomorrow, although it's yet to get further than "processing" so I'm not too hopeful, but it's not really the end of the world anyway as the number porting can't happen till next week regardless. I just hope there's no credit rejection from O2 as I've read about earlier in this thread...would be odd if there was though.

TCB also doesn't appear to have recognised the purchase yet (not even £0.01 yet), but I'll give that some time to filter through.

Edit: Oh, just as I type this out it dispatches. Add impatience to my list along with worrying, figured incorrectly their employees would have gone home for the weekend by now.

Hi,quidco/topcashback cashback can take days or even weeks to track , if it doesnt happen within a week put in a manual cashback claim.

You usually don't actually get the cashback until after a couple months to ensure you don't cancel the direct debit and don't return the phone.

    Hi all,

Please could I get an update from anyone with regards to how BMP.NET have been for you with regards to their cashback offers?

I have been with affordablemobile and they have been great - you can email your statements back, rather than posting, however, BMP.net have better deals now.

    Kind regards,
