  • Other half on 18m free, 25 quid per month. Sent off. Got Acknowledged.
A payment came thru for 92ish pound. We were expecting 100.

Does anyone know if they tax, add charges etc that would cause this 8 discrepancy?

18 month contracts would be 5 claims, so to expect £100'ish you would need to be paying around £28 p/m.

    £28 p/m x 18 = £504 / 5 = £100.80

    £26 p/m x 18 = £468 / 5 = £93.60

I imagine the monthly cost would be between £25 - £26?? If correct then it looks like the claim is right.

  • Hello everybody :) I have been desperately wading through all 46 pages of this thread with great interest. I am on the brink of purchasing a Blackberry 9360 off buymobilephones.net as it definitely looks like the best deal I can find. 100 mins call time, unlimited texts and 500mb of data. It is for my 12 year old daughter for Christmas. We are currently with O2 but would be more than willing to swop to Orange for the £20.50 per month Panther contract. The site says that they will then pay us cashback of around £40 every four months (6 payments).

I would just love to receive any advice at all really, is this the best deal around for this phone? etc. I also know that I really need to get my finger out as it's nearly Christmas and I still haven't got my daughter's main Santa present :( We looked around a few phone shops yesterday and they were all saying that stocks of this new Blackberry model are running very low (although they are bound to say that, aren't they?)

Anyhow, sorry for rambling on and I eagerly await any replies and advice at all. Thanks very much in advance.
  • Looks about the best deal for the 9360 at the moment along with the Dolphin contract at the same price with 100 more minutes but only 100mb data (although Blackberrys compress data so 100mb is quite alot). I bought this phone for my son on a great deal at mobiles.co.uk a few weeks ago but unfortunately that deal has now ended. Its a far better phone than his old 9300, both thinner and lighter and has a better screen. Have used Buymobilephones.net for cashback deals four times without any problems but as a few on here have pointed out, they are a far smaller company than the CPW dealers. Just make sure you send in the correct bills and dont forget £30 Quidco/TCB.

There are some quite enormous amounts of cashback on offer with some phones, such as an 18 months Orange Panther 46 (900 mins, 3000 texts, 1GB data, £46 a month) contract with 17 months free!

It certainly appears like you can save some money by going for one of these contracts and treating it like SIM only deal. However while the net cost would be only £46 over the entire contract, if you were to lose your vouchers or BuyMobilePhones went bust, you would be stuck paying £828!

    Worth the risk? ;)
  • Hi all,

I have recently purchased a Samsung S2 Galaxy from BuyMobiles. I didn't get it for the cashback offer (which is only 3 months half price) so little risk. Does anyone know the turnaround time for them to post the phone out? I made the order on Friday and since then the status has just been they are processing it. I know only a few days (and Sunday one of them) but they seem to promote that you get the phone very quikcly so i am a little concerned.

its only worth the risk if you think you can afford the £46 a month if there are any problems. I took an identical deal around 6 months ago and just got my first cashback payment yesterday within their payment limits.I treated it as basically sim only as the phone was rubbish (hence the 17 months free) and used the sim in my iphone.

to avoid losing the vouchers take a scan of the vouchers and upload the picture to some reputable cloud storage (e.g. google docs) or email a copy to yourself. My last cashback claim got lost in the post (didnt send recorded) and they accepted my printed out voucher fine when i sent it again.
  • Unless you REALLY know what you're doing don't use Affordable Mobiles. Even if you do it's high risk and you must cover every angle from the start.

Pity you're stuck on the phone; there are much better deals around on decent phones but only if you use redemption.

Buymobilephones has been around much longer, but are still relatively high risk - and redemption is relatively cumbersome. If you really want to pay that much and are prepared to lose any cashback should you stuff up or the dealer go bust then you could use them in preference to your alternative. I have never taken anyone to either of these dealers - I stick with safer sources and much cheaper deals. I have used both the dealers you ask about though - but then I accepted the risks and knew what I was doing, which has proved particularly important with Affordable Mobiles and (to a much lesser extent and only at the "margin") BMP.

Mobilejunkie - Could you say what the safer sources are? i'm looking for a cheap HTC Cha Cha deal for my daughter, and after manyhours scanning reviews and this forum (including your very detailed advice about redemptions a few years ago) I am, tbh, completely confused and don't have a "gut" feel for which way to go. I thought I'd found a reasonable deal with BMP, and the reviews weren't too bad, until I read this thread, and in particular your comments above. Given your acknowledged authority on this subject, this stopped me in my tracks! Do you offer a service to find good, cheap deals??
