    Hi folks,

A workmate of mine asked me if I knew anything about http://buymobilephones.net/

I've never heard of them and was wondering if any of you MSE'rs had, or has anyone had any previous dealings with them??

    Thanks in advance :)

    ============================

    Hi

Definitely recommend e2Save and OneStopPhoneShop based on my experience with getting cashbacks from them over the last 2years on 12months contract phones that came with full cashbacks. The chqs always got to me on time and I did not have to chase them.

I saw your posting about BuyMobilePhones.net . From what I gather, they have just introduced a new system whereby you get all your cashback monies directly paid into your bank a/c. YES, that's incredible! Can*t wait to buy a phone off them next year. In theory this minmizes having to worry about waiting for a chq to arrive on time in the post without getting lost.

Providing one sends in all the relevant and correct airtime bills to them on time, they will honour their part of their T&C's.

I am not aware of any other on-line mobile phone companies out there that runs their cashback returns like BuyMobilePhones.Net. Does anyone know? But it certainly makes you feel reassured doesn*t it, that your cashback goes directly into your bank which can only be a good thing. There are alot of cowboy companies out there. Avoid Phones2UDirect at all costs. I only managed to get my first chq from them after waiting for almost 3months and reporting them to Trading Standards+Consumer Direct and writing a letter to P2UD demanding they send me my chq or else I take them to Court! Only then did they send me my chq.

If you have any experiences (good or bad) with BuyMobilePhones.Net please send me a PM or post to this reply as I am considering buying a phone next year when I finish with P2UD.

  • As this was a very old thread bumped up I have merged several different newer threads to give a more up to date view on this company :)
  • I've had a pretty bad run with this company.

I signed up for an Orange contract on October 10th, which came with a free 80Gb iPod video to be delivered within 7 days, mobile phone and free port of my number.

The phone arrived the next day, with an apologetic letter stating they were unable to port my number and to talk to Orange directly, which I did. The number is now ported.

The iPod, however, has so far failed to arrive. Numerous phonecalls have revealed that their very well hidden T&C's state that they have up to 28 days to deliver (they've failed to do that) and when they contacted me a week ago to tell me it was finally dispatched, City Link apparantly lost it. I'm now waiting for them to send another.

They have also admitted over the phone that the backlog makes it impossible to send any ipods out in 7 days, yet they still advertise that "they are not like other phone companies" and that they "deliver in 7 days to new customers".

I find it disgraceful that they knowingly mislead people into signing up into telephone contracts (which you can't get out of) with no hope of meeting their end of the deal. I feel like I've been duped to be honest - I still don't know when, if ever, this item is due to arrive, whilst buymobilephones continue to make money from me.

I would advise, in the strongest possible terms, that anyone looking for a mobile phone deal stays the hell away from these cowboys.
  • Hi, I have a contract phone through buymobilephones.net and their cashback system has worked well, albeit a bit slow. I have now ordered a new phone and checked their T & C for cashback procedure and everything seemed fine. Yesterday I received an email and it states:

Line rental refunds for 12 month contracts:

Line rental refunds and cash backs will be paid in three equal
parts; on month four, month eight and month twelve for your
    contract.

Each claim is initiated by sending us your first four bills
within 14 days of the date of the fourth bill and the next four
bills within 14 days of the date of your eighth bill and last
four bills within 14 days of the bill date of the twelfth bill.
Acceptance of claims for the second and third instalment will
depend on acceptance of all previous claims.

Bills received after the period specified will not qualify for
line rental refunds or cash backs.

Bills must show no outstanding money from previous bills and
Claims are subject to you remaining on the same pay monthly
tariff as you were originally connected.

They do not mention 14 days on their website. How do people manage to send off their cashback if they are on a 2 week holiday, which happens to be at the same time?

I think 14 days is pushing it, is this allowed?

14 days is certainly tight - the issue that weighs in your favour here, should you ever have to argue anything in court, is that they didn't provide you with this info PRIOR to purchase.

I have previously pointed out this sneaky little trick of BMP's as they used to allow 28 days, then reduced this to 21 days and then 14 days. When it dropped to 14 days they removed all reference to it in their T&Cs - it's now only mentioned AFTER purchase, in their claims form and, from what you have said, in their emails.

For anyone wishing to contact me privately to ask me a question, can I ask that you email me directly as my PM box is often full.
  • 14days is not mentioned on the site, but it is mentioned on the voucher.
  • to be fair, if the number of days isnt mentioned on the website then surely its our responsibility as sensible money savers to phone them up and find out exactly what their terms are before we commit our money to it - there is no way i would sign up to a cashback contract (mine are usually around £400) without checking that I could fulfil the terms.

Hopefully, it will reassure you a bit that we actually have 3 contracts with these people under their previous 28 day terms and have had no problem at all with first cashback and have now received email advising payment of 2nd should take place within a few days. even their tel helpline is good BUT be warned that i have just rung them myself today to confirm cashback terms as we need a new phone and they will strictly ONLY pay out on original bills now which means if you send something recorded and keep a copy, then it gets lost in the post, they wont pay out even if you get a copy to them within the 14 day deadline.

    Hi there.
I need some help in deciding about buying a mobile from BMP

    I wanted to know,

    1. Does porting of number has any affect on the cashback?
    2. Can I port my number after I have received my phone or it has to be done at the time of placing the order? (I know that they give you an option when you place the order.)

    Many thanks
I wanted to thankyou a million times but its a shame that I can press the button just once :T
  • Previously I read threads on other chat forums about how buymobilephones.net cheats customers. Today I just found out I become one of these victims of this website!

Other victims complained that buymobilephones.net usually sell some 'hidden' deals with the official contract. For example, if you order a mobile phone with a Business 250 contract (250 anytime any network minutes allowance, offered by O2), the buymobilephone.net adviser on the phone will NOT tell you that he/she will actually put you on a 3-month free trial service of a service O2 provides. Then on your 4th month bill you will find you are charged additionally 35 pounds on top of your usual bill.

I thought this only happened with O2 customers. But then today I found out that buymobilephones.net actually does it for Orange customers as well! (I presume they do it to every new customer!)

I signed a Racoon 35 contract with Orange through buymobilephones.net. In the first couple of months, the bills looked normal. But today I received the 4th airtime bill and I found I was charged 6 pounds more for a service called Orange World Access! I phoned Orange just now and was told that this is actually a two-month free trial service. After that, I will be charged 6 pounds more each month for this service. I argued that I was not informed for a such service when I signed this contract. Orange told me that they will not refund the money to me and I have to contact buymobilephones.net.

The experience of other customers is that buymobilephones.net will not refund any money to its customers, no matter how hard you try to argue/complain.

Does anybody know how to deal with such problem? Is there a place for customes to complain?
