    Here's my experience with BMP:

I ordered an Orange contract through their website on 7th September and they emailed me to confirm the order and do the approval process, which meant them debiting ₤50 from my debit card and refunding it back immediately (they did mention this before you order). Then I was emailed that it was approved and the phone was dispatched on the 9th (2 days later), which arrived the same day. No complaint bout the phone, it's perfectly fine.

My contract with BMP include a free gift of PSP Slim, for which I waited for my first 2 bills (note that this does not necessarily mean 2 months, as shown below - in fact, it was roughly 1.5 months for me).

My first bill for 10th September to 14th October came on 19th September.
My second bill for 15th October to 14th November came on 21st October.

I sent in the bills with the claim voucher on 22nd October, they emailed me to confirm they receive it on 24th October but they say the PSP Slim was not in stock and they'll email me once it's dispatched (no date or period given). Thing is, the PSP offer on their website was changed to PSP-3000. So to appease my paranoid self, I emailed them the same day, and guess what, they emailed me back the next morning to say I'll receive either PSP Slim or PSP-3000.

A week later, I emailed them again a few times to ask when am I getting my PSP and I received no reply at all.

2 weeks on and more emails unreplied, I decided to call them and I was told politely that the stock will be in the week after 16th November.

Now, I've just received an email saying I'll be getting the new PSP-3000 (instead of the PSP Slim in my contract). Yay?

Will update in the next couple of weeks and see if they honoured their word, but so far i'm still optimistic. The only complaint i have is that they rarely reply the emails (3 out of 10 emails from me). If you really need a reply, I'll suggest calling them instead on 017735 22301 (don't use their 0844 number because there's a high charge).

PS - I'm posting this because I couldn't find anyone else in the same situation as me (PSP Slim being replaced with PSP-3000 in their offers before my claim was sent in). If there's anyone who ordered and received a PSP, do post here :)

Update 18/11/08 - I've just received an email saying my free gift will arrive the next day! :). And ₤60 cashback will be paid automatically after 40 days. Although I have a feeling I'm receiving the PSP Slim (aw man). So here's a satisfied customer definitely recommending BMP!

Update 21/11/08 - The PSP is safely in my hands now. Guess what, they sent the PSP-3003 with Fifa 09 + Lemmings bundle! It's a new unit, unopened box. So from the PSP-2000 in my contract I have now received PSP-3000, and with 2 games as well. Here's one very happy boy with his early Christmas gift :D
  • Just a quick recommendation for BMP. We've had excellent service from them.

Here's our story. My OH ordered a Sony Ericsson C902 on Tmobiles Combi 30 (300mins and 200txts @ £30 per month) with a promise of a free Xbox. We ordered the phone on Thursday 6th November in the evening, thus missing a guaranteed next day delivery which we were aware of. The phone was delivered by Royal Mail special delivery on the Saturday morning.

We sent in copies of my OH's ID and the free gift claim voucher on the Monday via Royal Mails Recorded delivery and they confirmed receipt of it on the Tuesday. By Wednesday they had confirmed dispatch of our free Xbox and it was delivered by courier this morning.

At first I was a bit sceptical of this 'free' gift offer. However BMP made it easy to claim the gift and have excellent communications via email to inform you of what is going on with your order.

    HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!
  • we should be getting commission of BMP's for all this free advertising we are doing ;)
  • Haha.. well they deserve the good words everyone's putting in for them. As long as you do what you should, they'll certainly keep their word. I'm just happy they gave me a PSP-3000 instead of the older model I signed for :D

Here's even more recent recommendations from others.

  • cool ya jets, I forgot I'd even posted this.

the orange thing turned out to be a payment made on my card to orange, it was all cancelled by the bank and all fine. the google search that brought up the fraud still scared the !!!!! outta me.

I sent off my details to BuyMobilePhones.net and got my xbox soon after.

Still skeptical about giving out bank details to these companies but as i play on call of duty 4 i forget all about it :-D

  • Hi, \ive just purchased a phone on a 24 month contract with buymobilephones. the phone is great, it comes with a free laptop which I have to claim for. They are asking for 2 month of mobile phone bills so will have to wait to claim, am a bit worried that will take me too near my 90 claim time expecially if after reading some previous threads they are a bit slow on the uptake. The other alternative is I send in a photocopy of my passport and driving licence, but this makes me wonder if this is just a scam to get hold of peoples details. Is it safe to do this, knowing that they are only photocopies. Has anyone else done this and had any problems?

The other problem I have is with dialaphone. I purchased a phone for my son just before christmas, which was faulty. despite having rang them on several occassions and only getting as far as their computer called rachel, I then took it into my own hands to cancel the contract with orange, and return the phone with a covering letter. I received a reply saying I couldnt cancel the contract as I was out of my 7 days return policy, and they could offer me a relacement only. which I do not want. I understand under the sale and supply of goods act 1979 i should be entitled to a refund for faulty goods. So am going to write them another letter quoting this hoping for a refund of my first 2 months line rental on a phone I no longer have.

Would love someones input and advice on the above, thanks!
  • Hi Monty...I've sent copies of my drivers licence and front of credit card as i dont have a passport (well, I do but the rip off price is stopping me from renewing), and having taken to contracts out in the past 6 month through buy mobile phones, i have had no problem at all. They dont appear to be a new company, and seem to be associated with Derby county in some way (well, advertise there anyway). I wouldnt worry too much tbh, although that isnt to say you wont have problems, so dont blame me if you do ok ;)

As for the dial a phone issue..I'm pretty sure you would need to contact dialaphone in the first instance, then orange after the cooling off period for a return note? Not sure how your rights are with them as to the sale of goods act (I'm thick, but i'm sure someone will be along soon enough)

    hope this helps

    Ray
  • Thanks for that scoobyray, that puts my mind at rest somewhat, so will see how I go. As for the dialaphone thing, Have still to receive a reply from my letter.
