I tried lily polo and although I loved the look I found that I wanted to tear my face off. Really disappointed as I really wanted them to work. Am a bit frightened to try any other make now as I am obviously not suited to them.£2.00 Savers Club = £34.00 So Far
+ however may £2 coins I have saved in my Terramundi since 2000.

Don't let one brand put you off. I got some samples from Everyday Minerals, which seems to be quite big in the US for mineral makeup, and within seconds of putting the foundation on my face was itching like nobody's business. But Elemental Beauty's foundation doesn't cause me any issues at all, and colour wise is perfect (which never happens with more "commercial" foundations because they're generally for more yellow-toned skin and mine is more pink).0 -
Elemental Beauty is bismuth-free - I understand it's the bismuth that causes the itching in many brands.

Lily Lolo is bismuth free too. I use lily lolo as I found it better for my skin than others. Suppose we're all different.
'Won' a Rimmel pot of mineral make up and am very disappointed. It just doesn't have the cover of 'real' 'pure' minerals. To give them credit they do warn that it is only 95% minerals though.
I find that I use very little and that my face needs to be quite quite dry before application, otherwise I find it can cake and look quite awful. I'm after the natural lookNo-one knows I wear foundation :rotfl:

went and got lured in to a 'makeunder' by the bare escentuals/mineral makeup stand and having removed what i had on, i got the whole face done - mineral foundation, blush/colour, eyes and lips etc.
i felt i looked ok while inside and under shop lighting - but when i got home i looked very bronzed!:( i later noticed when taking it off at night - that my ears and under my chin bit on my neck had foundation on it too to match me up! so firstly i think the lady kinda got the colour wrong - and i felt i was ready for a photoshoot - though my eyes did look wonderful.
my query is: i have slightly combination to oily skin and my present makeup & skincare is clinique - which suits me to a tee (btw i was in HOuse of Fraser finding out about bonus time which starts on 13th May and i was seeing whether to go for something different instead of sticking to clinique).
while wearing the mineral foundation my face felt very dry and stretched and taut. -is it supposed to feel like this? or maybe does it not suit me. is it for all skin types? how about those of you that swear by the mineral foundation - any opinions?0 -
I tried a mineral foundation and also a powder and my face felt extremely dry and taut. I wanted to try it because I had heard that it was wonderful for sensitive skin, but I think normal products suit me much better.0

I'm a convert.
My skin is quite dry so I make sure I use plenty of moisturiser underneath otherwise I know the feeling you mean. I won't be going back to a liquid foundation though.
I've always thought the sales assistants on the Bare Escentuals counter staff are a very strange shade of orange myself and I've be rather put off by this from trying their wares. I've been using Elemental Beauty and I blend two of their shades to get the right match for me.0 -
I've used bare escentuals for a number of years now - love it!
I'm very pale skinned and use the lightest shade which is Fair - in the summer I use Fairly Light. My skin is oily and the light and non-clogging feeling suits me down to the ground - would never go back to a liquid. I also use mineral veil, well rested concealer and a couple of eyeshadows and that's it (not into blusher and bronzer, they always make me look like a clown :rotfl:)
I have friends that don't like it and have gone back to a liquid. It does sound like that they've used the wrong shade on you or totally overdone it on the bronzer and under the artifical lights of a store, it's hard to get right shade at the best of times.
Have you thought of trying another brand, Lily Lolo (I think) will sell you a small amount to try for a pound or two.0 -
Hi!
I have oily/combination skin too. I now use Lily Lolo foundation (porcelain) and I am a complete convert. It helps mop up the oil (tmi?) but doesn't irritate the dry bits. However, I do get a better look if I moisturise first, then it is perfect. My skin has improved too.
I bought a few samples and tried them at home in natural and electric light to check. I've also used Elemental Beauty and the people there are really helpful."I am not a vegetarian because I love animals; I am a vegetarian because I hate plants." A. Whitney Brown0 -
I think it is supposed to be for all skin types, but it really depends on how its applied and who applied it. I had some....slap happy assistant (tried to out it as nicely as I could) apply me a covering of the stuff in Debenhams Westfield, she obviously didn't want to be there, barely looked me in the eye as phrases rolled off her tounge as she speedily read through the script and I went straight to the nearest toilets, took one look at my face and washed it straight off! Had the Body shop reapply my eye makeup for me!
I do use the Maybelline liquid minerals foundation though and this works for me though there are mixed reviews on weather or not it is a 'genuine' mineral foundation or not.0
