I have to say a CS is the only thing there will be on my notes as a "ONLY IN EXTREEM EMERGENCY" - if it's breech I will be outright asking if it's possible to deliver it naturally - if they think Roo or I are in danger then obviously an emergency CS, but they will only get my permission when they convince me it's an emergency

Sami, the midwife last night was saying it was all to avoid litigation... She also said she thought in 10 years time giving birth wouldn't be the natural process it should be... I'd like to see them trying to practice unnecessary medical procedures on me... I can be difficult to TineA very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... Mel - are you feeling excited/scared?
With DS my waters broke with a gush at home and with DD1 they broke with a gush as I was examined in hospital = so both times, i knew it was definately waters. I'd also had a definate recognisable 'show' with both of them.
With DD2, no show, and no obvious waters breaking, but while I was at home with the niggly pain, i was leaking fluid like you describe. (TMI warning) After my bath, i was still leaking and thought i'd got sudden incontinence. Then there was bloodstained stringy clear discharge to go with the leakage.
When we got to hospital the midwives said my waters hadn't broken - and they apparently didn't break til baby came out - but I suspect they'd been trickling for a while - but what do I know, i'm just a mum!!
Becky - congrats. Its totally your decision about whether to opt for c/s or try for VBAC - don't let anyone bully you either way.
I had emergency C/S with my first - he was breech (is it frank breech with bottom first?) and his big fat bottom got stuck in my pelvis so he wasn't going anywhere!
When I had No.2, i really struggled to decide what to do, but being consultant led, I got an extra scan at the end to make sure she was the right way up, as I didn't trust the midwives, and decided to try for VBAC. It was the best decision I ever made (for me!), I found the birth less stressful, the recovery time was so much faster and I felt I bonded better with her. I've just had No.3, again VBAC - and again it was a wonderful experience.:beer:0 -
I've just been reading about when you lot are planning to go on maternity leave...Crikey!! My plans are to take any annual leave I have left at the end of July beginning of Aug & I will then start my maternity leave. So I'll probably be off a good 2 months before baby arrives.
When I was pregnant with Ruby I did the same. I really couldn't wait to get out of there. But then I think that's down to the work I do. (Currently I'm a support worker for 4 men with mental health issues.)
My job this time round is so much easier than when I was pregnant with Ruby. But I work nights (sleep ins) So I'm a lone worker. I don't fancy having any problems whilst being on my own.
Plus it means I get to enjoy the sunny weather! I don't know if I'll even go back to my current job when my maternity leave runs out. I will take the full 52 weeks off & then decide. I ended up taking 15 months off with Ruby. Our 1st baby is due 29th December 2007! :rudolf:
I'm hopeful that this get's me out of cooking Christmas dinner!
Baby Ruby arrived after 55 hours of labour & an emergency c section on Christmas Day at 14.41 weighing 6lb 6oz...And yes I did get out of cooking Christmas dinner!!:rotfl:0 -
Tine - I don't like being difficult, in fact I find it very hard but I feel so strongly about treatment of women during preg that I don't seem to have any trouble being firm with them
must be my mothering instinct on overdrive
When it comes to MWs I don't take any poop from them and feel fine telling them in my firm voice that it is pointless spouting their random claims at me as I have done my reading and them trying to scare monger is a waste of their breath! :rotfl:
Ps I watched that surrogacy doc last night - not sure if its just me but I wouldn't be a surrogate for either of those families esp the Russian woman I don't feel like she had a single mothering/caring bone in her body!!0 -

Mums are always seeming to be encouraged to give birth in hospital, be induced, have analgesics and get told to top up babies with formula because they aren't gaining weight according to the blooming chart (and then 5 yrs down the line saying ur kid is fat!!)0 -

My thoughts exactly!! (But i thought it was just me being judgemental cos i'm the best, most caring mum ever!:p):beer:0 -
I don't have to go back to Midwife for three weeks! They are happy with me, I'm healthy enough, so next MW appointment is 37 weeks, and fortnightly after that.
Student midwife was there, so I was cruel and asked to hear the babies heartbeat. Student tried for 5 minutes and couldn't find it. Good practice for her, he is very difficult to track down!Stay-at-home, attached Mummy to a 23lb 10oz, 11 month old baby boy.0 -
Ooh, I found you all!
. You can run but you can't hide!
Lots of good luck and hugs, MFD xx
Happy Due Date, Mel! :j.
Glad the scan went well, Glam! :j
I would have hated to have an c/s with Poppy but it was a very real possibility and I was 5 mins away from one. But I would go through any procedure to have my baby delivered safe and well.

I had my booking in appointment yesterday. My midwife has told me that I will be consultant led due to having had a caesarean with Ruby. I have to see the consultant sometime in the next few weeks & then again at 36 weeks. Just so they can check how I'm getting on & if they think I will need another section or if I'll be able to have a crack at a natural birth.
I'm not really sure what I want. I could opt for a section & I will then know exactly when I'm going to go in etc but the recovery time can really take weeks. I know after Ruby it took me a good few weeks to recover & this time round I will have Ruby who will be 21 months & a newborn to care for.
The thought of a natural birth after having a 55 hour labour last time is enough to put anyone off! Lol! I don't know...back to back is just no fun at all!
I'm in the same boat as you, previous section.
I am going to try for a VBAC, can you enquire if there is a VBAC clinic on your area, which basically will give you loads of info about having a natural delivery, or at least trying for it!
Good luck x:j Baby boy Number 2, arrived 12th April 2009!:j0
