Its so weird tho isn't it, on one hand they are saying lets encourage homebirths, natural pain releif and BFing but in reality most are not actually following these.
Mums are always seeming to be encouraged to give birth in hospital, be induced, have analgesics and get told to top up babies with formula because they aren't gaining weight according to the blooming chart (and then 5 yrs down the line saying ur kid is fat!!)

Sami, the midwife last night was saying it was all to avoid litigation... She also said she thought in 10 years time giving birth wouldn't be the natural process it should be... I'd like to see them trying to practice unnecessary medical procedures on me... I can be difficult to Tine ;)

You might find this of some interest!

Should warn you that it's a pretty long article but makes very interesting reading!

    Ouch!
I have done my back in, done a massive shop in Asda today, £70
must of been lugging the trolley round, then loading and unloading trolley/car, then carrying it all from my car to my house, took me 4 trips, and it's bloody far to walk too!

Mum is picking Aston up from school today and taking him back to hers for dinner, god I'm so grateful!

RE; waters, Mine gushed out after they popped, and I had to continuously change my 10 inch thick maternity pads to cope with the leaking!

Not liking this bit of that guardian article
The baby's safety was her primary motive - but not, she adds, the only one. "The other issue was the risk of pelvic floor damage. Again small, but to me, just not worth it."

Just not worth it?? how selfish IMHO, I'm only 23 and do a little wee every time I sneeze :o was it worth it? YES!!! (obviously coz I'm doing it again!!:p)
My incontinence can be fixed more than likely without surgery and 'if' I need surgery it will be a very small key hole thingy probably with a local ann how is that not better than having the massive op that is a c/s??

I work with midwives and they all agree that consultants are far to 'in' to clinical intervention... I suppose if you spend all your time working with high rish women then you're a bit more aware of the risks... But if everything is straight forward then there's no need to turn it into a medical procedure!
A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...
Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.
