Thanks for the help Larmy, i did as you suggested and it doesn't appear to have affected sales as I have sold 3 today. However how do they work out your percentage rating? I have 2 x 5* and 1 x 3* which if each star is worth 20% gives me a total of 260% divide it by 3 and I should have 86% rating not the 67% they have given me!
Also the gentleman who gave 3* feedback bought his book in first week of january! Why wait till now to complain? I have offered him a refund though as I'd rather get rid of his feedback, if thats possible.I love this board, have "virtually" met so many lovely people, people I am honoured to count as friends.

However , they recently have a new chief librarian who sells off old stock cheaply and I have done very nicely from that source. Ask them whether they are planning any book sales or whether they might be prepared to let you rummage through their discard piles. I now pay 40p per non fiction book, but get the chance to browse before I commit to buy. I don't bother at all with fiction.

My local library always has a couple of shelves of books they are selling off - prices are usually 20p up to £1. They also have a large room full of computers with an hour's free internet access - so really easy to check the books which look good before buying them :j0 -
Anyone experiencing delays with Amazon emails?
I've had my first pending! Groan. I've checked my payments account though and the payment is showing as cleared but I haven't had formal email notification from Amazon so I don't know whether to send it or not.
I've also had to issue a refund to a buyer who wants to cancel an order and haven't had notification that the refund has been issued. (i've done one before and the email came through instantly.)
*Edit: All the emails have come through now! Sold my CD. I'm quite pleased because it's been listed for a while and was the only one on there when I first listed it so I set the price quite high. Since then a few others have come along and undercut me and all sold. Some have gone for half as much. I kept my price set at the amount that I think it's worth selling for after fees and it's now gone! :j0 -
jo_b thanks for the heads up. I've just checked my latest pending and it too shows payment has been received. I'd have missed it if I hadn't checked my account.
I always rely on the Amazon emails to let me know when to despatch, but it looks like i'll have to do a daily check on my account as well.
EDIT: It gets even stranger. I just refreshed the page to get an address to post the book out to, and it has gone again, it is no longer in my account or anywhere, so maybe it hasn't sold after all

I am glad you sorted it out Becky but as for an explanation how they work out your rating, hopefully someone else can answer that - I am still at 98% due to that 3 out of 5 back in December! I have about 47 feedback but have sold loads more than that of course. If you look though at people with lowish ratings, despite them, you will still see people continuing to buy - its is if the price is right I think!!!!! ;)PS, I Think he would have received an email from Amazon asking to rate you, otherwise he would probably never said a thing!

I have just received this email:
"This order has not arrived yet and I need this book urgently. I am going
back to Manchester tomorrow and if the book is not going to be delivered
tomorrow I would like it to be sent to my address in Manchester"
The book sold on Wed the 1st March at 11pm and was posted next day Second Class. Obviously there is no chance of me posting it to Manchester now  but just wondered how to word my reply.
In anticipation.....THANKS GUYS!!!!!!!Laughing at my ancient signature...voodoobaby now 10 years old:eek:0 -
voodoozoe sorry but I have no suggestions at all as to what to say to your buyer. I suppose he wants you to change into your superwoman outfit and stop the mail train to retrieve his book?
I think if anything I would respond but sort of ignore some of his email. Along the lines of ' this book was despatched by me on the xx via a Post office,. AS it is now in the postal system it cannot of course be recalled, so you may have to make arrangements to have it forwarded on to you if is does not arrive before you depart.' That sounds a bit curt, but I'm sure it can be made to sound a lot more accomodating without actually promising anything.
I'm having a good day at the moment, sold three books and a video since Friday, my most ever! Two of the books and the video were from the auction lots last Tuesday so I am already in profit from that trip and still have several boxes of stock left. I've also got bids in on a few books I listed on ebay, all will be pure profit.
woo hoo

Well done Soo!!! :j
I have sent a cheery email saying I sent it on the Thursday and asking her to let me know as soon as it arrives and made a joke about the Post Office being a bit rubbish. I've kept it light hearted because theres nothing worse than a big aggressive stressy situation!!!!
Didn't mention a refund yet because I don't want her getting any ideas about pretending it didn't arrive at all!!!!!
I've had someone trying it on before by claiming something got sent back to the sorting office because of inadequate postage and they couldn't get there because they were poor students. As soon as I asked them to send me a copy of the card to prove the excess postage so I could send them a refund they went very quiet and then went on to leave me good feedback!!!!!!!!!
I am ON MY OWN these next two weeks  ...no kindly OH to package and post for me!!! And to sort out any little problems (like the one I'm currently having!!)
I'm using his absence as an opportunity to use up all the cous cous and risotto rice in the cupboards which he refuses to entertain!!!
Having said that I am missing him...I'm so sad,he's only been gone since 10amLaughing at my ancient signature...voodoobaby now 10 years old:eek:0 -

I try to sort my buys quite quickly otherwise I would soon be buried here. Last week after the auction I spent half the next day listing items (some on ebay but most on Amazon) then took any that weren't worth keeping straight to the charity shop. That gives me room to buy another lot in a few weeks time!
