I sold my first item on Amazon a couple of days ago; it was one of six I listed. It was frankly the one I least expected to sell, hence I made it very cheap.

Anyway, as the guide listed in the first thread, I put 'same day dispatch' in my comments, which of course led to a mad rush to get to the post office after work when the order was placed at 3:30pm, as well as having to spend 50p on a jiffy bag because I didn't have time to wrap it properly.

Since then I have changed my comments to '24hr dispatch'. In the experience of people here, will that make a difference? I haven't sold anything since.

  • Hi grimelda - well done on your first sale.

Same day dispatch is hard to achieve if you are not at home all day.

I wouldn't have thought that 24 hour dispatch is any hinderance it still sounds as if you are willing to move quickly

I tend to say "Immediate dispatch" which sounds good but is a bit vague. If the market for the book is very competative I add "First Class Mail".

The quickest I have delivered a book is under 1 hour from purchase! I happened to look at my account, saw that a sale had just gone through, saw that the buyer lived in the same town as me and was actually about half a mile away. So I got on my bike and went round there and then. The buyer left me a very nice feedback too.
I'm sorry but I'm not Mike!

Well, just sold two more right before lunch so I guess it didn't make a difference after all.

Gives me an excuse to use this emoticon for the first time: :j

I was just about to go to lunch when I thought 'hm, should check my emails' and got the splendid 'item sold, dispatch now' message. By the time I finished wrapping that one, another had come in.

    I love this.

I have noticed this. My partner is the main breadwinner with the career. I do this partly as a hobby, partly to earn some pocket money, although when I was able to take this seriously in January I made not much short of £200. Not a bad hobby.

    Us chatterboxes AT? never........... :o

Despite selling very little in the past fortnight I still managed to get over £80 transferred from Amazon on Monday. I obviously aim for quality rather than quantity , but I wouldn't mind a few more sales.

    Soo
