Hey,,, hi to you all. I really need your help with an official online petition. I am asking the government to pass legislation that requires manufacturers of electrical goods to display the power consumption of their device on the packaging Volts and Amps. for those of you that think this is already done then think again.....this is not the case... A, B, or C rating do not tell the consumer anything... Facts are what i want...!!! the voltage and the ampage. by signing this petition you will help create a greener environment by giving people informed choices when purchasing their goods and helping people better understand that volts + amps = £££££'s
Further more, this legislation will create a more competitive market place for the manufacturers of electrical products........ based on specification, design and POWER CONSUMPTION!!!!!! thanks for your time and consideration on the subject.
NB. being an eco dweller, i like many others only have a limited amount of power. this legislation will help many people by giving them the information they need when buying electrical products........ thank you for your consideration...

WOW!!! soooo many glib obtuse comments, really what are you doing here??? environmental awareness is what i'm about........
( apoligies to those first visiting the post. I would ask you to be open minded then informed and please post your responce)
VOLTS + AMPS= WATTS= £££'S PER HOUR OF USE..... thats what i want on the packaging...( they have this in America)
Toshiba tv = £ 1.25 per week to power................................
Panasonic tv = £ 0. 69p per week to power............................
You would know this if the information was on the packaging....
I rest my case...............

Isn't your wish to have energy consumption labels on products already covered by the EU directive on energy labelling?

It'll waste some time and money for the taxpayer?

ALL electrical goods already have this labelling - As in "A rated; B Rated etc etc".

I am asking for the power needed to use the appliance to be displayed on the box.. eg.18.5 volts 3.9amps , this is my laptop. I generate my own power via wind turbines and solar panels... and because my laptop is a high energy user i need to use an inverter... and further more i would never have bought it had i known the power requirements....
Before commenting on the post I would like to ask everybody that they try to understand the importance of such a piece of legistlation.... and its impact on the marketing and manufacturing of electrical goods.... not to mention the impact it will have on the informed public.
And in answer to the moneysavingexpert users answer to my request for help I say, if this information was already on the boxes i would not be wasting my time eh???

Yes they might have A rated or B ratd or whatever written on them, but it is meaningless without knowing the actual wattage of it. I agree with this petition.

Wow, your really gonna have to think about this one eh??? stop kidding yourself. question for you....of all the tv's in the electrical shop how do you find out which one requires the lowest power????....
And trust me if you ever have to produce your own electricity you'll be interested. further more if you don't care what it takes to power your appliances then why pretend you want to save money.... VOLTS & AMPS = ££££'S got it????
