My thoughts on this are
Own board for BR is a good one as is a sub board for the diaries on DFW.

MSE Andrea: Diaries Sub-forum poll
Was a long time ago though...............
I can't see any ideal solution, but something does need to be done. The board is just too busy.
I do tend to think that moving the diaries into a little 'enclave' would hurt the spirit of the board though.

i think it would be great if we could have on the competition board some kind of icon so you know what competitions you have entered like when you post a reply to a post you get the tick sign, i think it would make comping alot easier for us all:D anyone agree??

I agree with the post before last on a new board for Quidco, Pigsback, etc.!
Also think it would be a good idea to have a teenagers board. Gotta get them while they're young
Also love that there'll be a Good & Groceries board! :j Someone said it should include cooking but I'm not sure, wouldn't that make it to Old Style-like?
Edited to add: How about a Challenges board? There's SO many, everywhere! Although I guess they are related to their own specific boards...GC March Wk1 £28.72/£30 Wk2 £28.4/£29

Making the Bankruptcy And Living With It a main board will come at a price. That is to further expose the uniquely vulnerable people there to other people who have had a bad day and want a soft target to have a pop at. That is, in my opinion, inevitable.
The upside is by having it more visible, more people who are in serious trouble and really need the help will find it.
On balance, the good outweighs the bad and it should be done.
However, there is no doubt in my mind that you should elect people with full moderator rights. It takes far too long to deal with inappropriate posts as it is. This is only going to get worse as the boards get busier.
Thanks for these boards Martin, they have been immensly usefull for very many people including me. But we need real, live, autonomous Moderators

I don't see why motoring is linked with public transport. Posts about diesel pumps next to those about season tickets, it seems like a bit of a strange mix to me.Let us be grateful to people who make us happy, they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom. - Proust0

- Pensions Move to the Work, Home & Play section
I don't agree with this at all. Pensions for most people are pure money in much the same way as Savings & Investments, and as a result I don't really see any justification for the move. If we were still almost entirely dealing with final salary pension schemes and the state pension, then I could probably see some merit in this, but for those of us in money-purchase schemes a pension is exactly like a stocks and shares ISA with a few tweaks, so it should definitely be pure money.I am a Chartered Financial Planner

Yes, please to a diaries sub-forum on DFW.
I know a vote was taken about this, but how many voters were regulars on the board? I know they all like it, but I am sure I am not the only one who ventures there every now and again but quickly leaves again because it is such a 'mess'.
The problem with leaving it as the little community it has become is it defeats its true purpose? And if regulars enjoy them as much as they say, a sub-forum will not deter them.
It really is very off-putting.0 -
Not too sure about the DFW Diary threads, though. This was discussed about a year ago and the general consensus of opinion was to 'leave it as it was' but keeping it under review.
My concerns are that, for many posters, it is by 'keeping a diary' that they are able to ask about specific debt problems, rather than starting individual threads. For many posters, their 'debt or spending diary' is the most important tool in dealing with their debts and I am more than a bit worried that if these 'diaries' are moved to a sub board, then many of the regular posters may not bother to look on that sub board on a regular basis, leading to a potential risk that the 'diary poster' may miss out on valuable advice.
I also appreciate that some diaries become 'social' threads and can 'clog up the board', but there really is nothing wrong with that - it keeps many of the more experienced posters 'on the board' and ready to give freely of their advice and experience.
Certainly there appears to be no evidence that the 'diary threads' are depriving 'newbie posters' of any advice - if anything the opposite is true as these 'diaries' are often brimming with useful information.
Rog2 sums this up nicely for me.......please please please do not split the diaries into a sub-board. I know there are lots of them, but they are vital, they encourage newbies in who may have been lurking in the past, and find it easier to pluck up courage on an established diary thread rather than to open up on a thread of their own. Newbies also pm diary writers with their questions if they are too shy to post. The diaries prove that DFW works....they are what will show newbies that the journey is one that is worth doing.
Plus, us diary-bods help new posters and established ones alike.....pack us off to our own board, and the danger is that is where we will stay, and could be LESS likely to help new people who need it.Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. I think the argument against a sub forum is this:
If the regulars are all on the sub forum who's going to be around to answer all the queries of newbies??
Also if the diaries go over - what happens to the challenges and other threads??0
