I don't like the proposal to move Pensions into Work, Home and Play. As an investment wrapper, pensions are an important financial product in their own right, much like ISAs or mortgages, and I think they need to stay in Pure Money. Pensions aren't necessarily something to do with "Work".0

Small Biz & Charity Organisers to go into Work & Benefits section
Why?
Can't follow the logic I'm afraid.:cool:Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
I do not mean this as a criticism but what purpose would Freebies - Low Spend serve? We use Grabbit for that sort of post at the moment, eg the recent Telegraph offers with The Body Shop/Tie Rack/Thorntons.
It would be great to have an icon to let us know we have already read a thread, especially on competitions.
Would it also be possible to have a tool to hide certain threads? Eg anyone doing surveys on Onepoll knows what I mean, where you can hide stuff you don't want to see every time you log on; I don't always have time to trawl through pages and pages of irrelevant stuff to find what I am interested in.
Again, none of these are meant as criticisms, merely constructive comments. Thanks for consulting us.:T0 -
Just a thought but what about sites or specific sellers to beware of- eg scams and things like that, for example, Uggs have alot of scams, (I read things in the thread about a specific Yuan Chen) as do phoning stupidly high rated numbers to claim things, request DHL deliveries that do not exist, phising emails that look very genuine, people who come to your door...
some get sent via spam, some are attached to ebay and some are posted via the mail. It could be helpful to have somewhere to report them and warn/prewarn others.0 -

Get rid of the word gambling, as that is the complete opposite of what the board is all about. It is about taking advantage of betting loopholes to make many thousands of £s. On the board regular contributers always warn against gambling and any post that mentions gambling is locked/deleted.
Just seems weird to have a board called gambling when in reality it is not tolerated and any posts that mention gambling are quickly closed.
I would support the suggestion to rename the board, for the simple reason that the word "Gambling" put me off even going to that board for almost a year. Eventually, it remained the only MSE board I hadn't peeked into, and I needed to finally know why on earth Martin is allowing a 'gambling' board. Now that I know what it is about, I regret I didn't go there earlier since there is no other board that helps you how to make so much money with so little effort.
Though where's the difference between gambling and betting? I wouldn't have gone near "betting" either, really.
Since I can't come up with a 'neutral' title, and since the board members have been dealing really well with the occasional attempts to encourage real gambling, I reckon the title could just as well stay as is. You will get 'misguided' gamblers from time to time, regardless of what the board title says.
It would, however, be really good if the GIOL board would not show up in Google searches, and only be accessible (viewable) by registered MSE members. Rpoints do precisely that - all their boards can be googled by anybody, but their gambling board is hidden from public view. This serves two purposes - 1) it doesn't put the bookies noses on what people do and 2) keeps the trolls at bay.0 -
I've always been surprised that there isn't a 'self-employed/running you own business' board. I'm sure there must be many people, from those seeking part time working at home to those who are making steps to become fully fledged businesses, who would like to share advice and ask questions.0

Sure I've said this already today - I wonder where?Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
You're right, but I think the two issues could be separated - charity and business, because while they are obviously linked, those who are struggling with being self-employed or trying to cope with surviving as a small business might notice and get involved in such a board more readily.0

Hi Martin,
I think that this is a fantastic site - I applaud all your hard work and I believe that generally speaking your proposed changes are good.
However, I have a problem with the statement "If you spot a spam, illegal, offensive, racist, libelous (sic) post or PM please email abuse@moneysavingexpert.com"
I am disturbed that "sexism" is not included in this list. Please can you tell me why it is not?
There seems to be a double standard at work here. Please can you explain why, according to site rules, the posting of racist posts is deemed to be bad (quite rightly), yet sexist posts are considered to be perfectly acceptable?0 -
I love MSE but am new enough to be happy with all changes you decide to make, but I do have one itsy-bitsy suggestion:
For the last 5 years I've been on another forum which seems to use the exact same format as MSE -- it;s vBulletin -- and so I'm wondering if one feature of that forum could be adopted here: posting on a thread is an automatic subscription to that thread.
Perhaps I'm spoiled from that forum, but I often forget to subscribe when I post on MSE, and then I wonder why there have been no follow-ups, and then the penny drops and I go and look for the thread. It's no big deal, but this is such a huge forum threads do get buried very quickly so it means a search for my own posts.
I don't know if other people forget to subscribe, but I think that many newbies probably don't realise they have to if they want to find a thread easily after posting.
What do others think? And is this at all possible? That other forum is identical in format to MSE in almost every other way...
PS and yes, I remembered to subscribe to this thread!0
