A sub board on mortgage free wannabees for the group challenges - sometimes they get a bit lost amongst the 'should I overpay' and 'my diary of my road to mortgage free' type posts, which can be quite numerous. It qould make it more obvious that there are a number of challenges ongoing and newbiew could pick the appropriate one easily, one would hope.?
The rest of the changes mae sense, although to be fair I tend to stick to my 'favourite' boards.Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19

Struggling a bit to understand this one?
Small Biz & Charity Organisers to go into Work & Benefits section
Why?
Can't follow the logic I'm afraid.:cool:0 -
Another thing - there seems to be an awful lot of arguments and back biting going on just now - any way of reminding people entering a discussion thread to be nice to other moneysavers via a 'click to agree to behave' type box to allow access - and impose it on people who are stirring it up and causing ill feeling - the guides would have the veto on this of course.
Just a suggestion, because I hate it when threads get locked for ill feeling - it would be a warning shot for troublemakers.?Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19

I agree on a sub-forum for diaries on dfw too, there's so many of them now. I'm sure the regulars would still visit the main board too.

I think I'm a lone voice but I stopped posting on DFW because of all the diaries so I'd like it if they were a separate board. It feels very cliquey on there now and as I started out on that board it's sad I don;t feel I can go in and help others on there any more.
I don;t know where to start as the diaries are so big and I'd rather see questions on their own board.
I also dont; see how a shopping board will work as isn;t that what Old Style is all about?:cool: DFW Nerd Club member 023...DFD 9.2.2007 :cool::heartpuls married 21 6 08 :A Angel babies' birth dates 3.10.08 * 4.3.11 * 11.11.11 * 17.3.12 * 2.7.12 :heart2: My live baby's birth date 22 7 09 :heart2: I'm due another baby at the end of July 2014! :j

I'm afraid I am another agreeer for a sub board for diaries - or perhaps a trial basis?
I also like the suggestion of removing Gambling from the GIOL title - although it would then be IOL which sounds a bit odd!!
Ooooh yes I also agree about the idea about having a "Low spend Freebie section" and I DEFINITELY agree about ome sort of Cashback/Surveys etc section
... seems I just like jumping on the back of other peoples ideasDFW Nerd #1310 -

I agree. I spend enough time on here as it is! :rolleyes:0 -
Update Note: Answering Some Issues.
A quick response to some of the points made in the thread above (it'll also go in the first post). The first thing to say is the main aim of this is to improve the forums usability - we've not done a thorough review of the boards in the six years they've been running; so we wanted to do it now.
My hope is by asking for suggestions as we've already done, and now consulting, the change will make this forum even better for people to use.- This is only about board changes. Hi, there's are lots of suggestions about things other than board changes. This is only about boards, their names, organisation and which should be merged and which new ones we need. Once this is over I will do a forum improvements note - though do remember many of those require technical development.
- Disagreements. Some of these changes (e.g. a DFW diaries sub-board) tend to be split into two vehement camps. My tempation on these things will be to try it for a month - and then remerge it if it isn't working.
- Small Boards: There are quite a few requests for splitting smaller boards, but in general my aim is to avoid this. For example Mortgage Free Wannabee is usually less than 50 people in it at any time, to split that up more would overly dilute it. In general we want boards that work and hit the critical mass - so less boards not more unless they're major areas is the aim.
As their are around 35 paperback books worth of info written here daily that's not feasible. The 'report and takedown' system we operate is the only way to protect the site.

Despite seing various threats/warnings over the years, I see the Discussion Time sub-board has got a bye through to the next revamp...!
More on a technical note than administrative issue, but is there any way that members under a certain post count could be blocked from posting links? I know that the phpBB forums (fora?) has an optional modification that can do this, but I'm not sure if vBulletin has a similar option.
Spam sucks - but knowing just how well indexed this site is by google, it is little wonder that they try so hard.<--- Nothing to see here - move along --->0 -

Could the challanges be listed in a sticky with links to the threads they are on. It's how they do it on DFW I think.BSCno.87The only stupid question is an unasked oneLoving life as a Kernow Hippy0
