  • It seems that I have now been a victim of the PLay.com fraud. I received an e-mail yesterday confirming an order for 3 PS3 games to an address in Tulse Hill, London.
Cancelled the order with Play.com who advised me to change e-mail and password.
After reading a few posts am I right in thinking it was a breach of Play.coms security and not mine?

More likely to be breach of Play.coms security (in this case). You have read this thread so not all of the people that posted could have been victims of fraud via a security breach on their own computers.

But keep an eye on your credit/debit card transactions.

If it was a breach in your security then they would be going after other stores with details they obtained.

Its happened again. I changed both password and e-mail only to find i can no longer log in. It seems they have changed my details now. Def a breach of Play.coms security.
The details left by the hacker:
    Simon
    Flat 98 Ira Court
    218 Norwood Road
    SE27 9AQ

    Anyone nearby??;)

Well, apparently they have closed my account without telling me. When questioned about fraud at Play.com the young lady said it was the first time she had heard of anything for a long time.
I informed her and asked why the previous person at Play.com had only advised me to change the e-mail and password without mentioning that the account will be closed, she replied, "I don't know."
I then asked to speak to the fraud dept and after being on hold for a fw mins was told, "I can't put you through as they are busy." I bet they are.

Of course Play know about the security breach.

They are not going to publically confirm it because it may get in the press and impact on sales.

If it was the first time she had heard about fraud why was the "fraud dept" busy? :D
  • Hi,
I put my first ever order in to play on monday and then I read a few pages of this thread:eek: they have already took the money out for my order and a £1 must be to check my card so I have just changed the expiry date and 3 digit pin as I dont want anything happening,
Also does anyone know how long they take to post as its just showing as order taken:confused:
    Will I be safe now?

  • Hi all

I did as posts advised. I was unable to change my card details to a false card, but I entered incorrect DOB/CV2/expiry date, and then got this email below. Suffice to say, once I now login, my account has been suspended, which suits me. Thanks for the tip off:beer::

    Dear Customer

Thank you for your recent order with www.play.com

At this time we are unable to process your order further as the card details you have entered appear to be incorrect and cannot be verified.

Please can you check you account and ensure that the following details have been entered correctly:

    Credit card number
    Valid and Expiry dates
Three digit security code (this can be found on the signature strip of your credit card)

We will then attempt to re-process your original order. You do not need to resubmit your order.

Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused to you in this matter and thank you for your patience and valued custom.

    Kind regards

    Play
    I am finally a homeowner!!

read it correctly.... she said it was the first she heard about it in a while and ive spoken to to them both before... the fraud team, accounts team and playtrade team are all the same people so thats why they are busy. You are all so rude! Honestly. They are only doing their jobs.
