Just tried to log into my play account and got this message:-

Suits me. The creditcard registered with them had already been cancelled because of a attempt by someone to charge £30 to vodaphone.0 -
Somebody tried to use one of my cards a short while back, but I never suspected that a company as big as Play.com could be involved. However, my opinion changed recently when somebody fraudulently used a family members card, which had only EVER been used on Play.com, and now I've stumbled across this thread! Hmm, makes me think...0

Hi, I just wanted to let everyone know that this is still, sadly, happening!!!
I had over £100 worth of men's designer goods charged to an Essex address on my Play.com account 4 weeks ago (I live in Nottinghamshire). I saw the email and stopped both my credit card and the order from going through. I can't believe it though that a month later Egg are querying how they let a transaction go through on a blocked card and Play.com have money from my card and goods that weren't dispatched!?
I thought it would be really straightforward as I had acted so quickly but I had an email from Play today saying I must have compromised my password so take it up with the credit card company. I have definitley not done this and have anti-virus, firewall etc that is updated daily plus it is only their site that fraud has occured and it has happened to so many other people. As for Egg they just keep saying they are investigating.
I feel so powerless over something that I can, hand on heart, say was not my fault. There must be laws to protect us in such situations. Does anyone have any idea about what I can do to get my money back? Has anyone else been successful in getting their money back in the same situation and can give the rest of us advice?
Thanks for your help.0 -
Just bumping this back up as this is still happening.
Luckily I read about it last week and went into the site to change my card details as it would not let me delete them....I literally put in a random set of numbers.
This evening I have had an email from Play saying that my order has been rejected as my card was not authorised. Now I haven't made an order on Play for months. Just logged into my account at Play and 'luckily' it has been suspended.
I'd advise anyone who has card details stored at Play to change or - if you can - remove them.0 -

You'll get that email if you change your card details (not necessarily on the day you change your details) so it's not someone trying to buy something. Still a good idea to use random card details though and you can just changed them back if you decide you want to buy something2008: £783.12 - 2009: £6,401.15 - 2010: £4,230.61 - 2011: £8720 - 2012: £2,041.89
2013: £134.960 -

I've got that email everytime I've changed my card details to fake ones and I've done it a lot as I still order from play and just change my details back to false ones once payment has been made. Other people also reported getting it earlier on in the thread2008: £783.12 - 2009: £6,401.15 - 2010: £4,230.61 - 2011: £8720 - 2012: £2,041.89
