To be clear then, you're annoyed because you couldn't change a saver room, despite the fact they're non-refundable and non-transferable?

I get that it's annoying for you and I'd be kicking myself too but it's hardly Travelodge's fault is it?

In fairness, their customer support really is terrible even when you have a legitimate problem. When I called once they were almost rude and just don't care. If all the rooms were saver rates, fine, but if I'd paid 60-80 quid or more I'd haven been p*ssed! And I've seen quite a few reports like that on hotel review sites from guys that pay the full rate (ok, some will be unfair, but there's a trend).

Saying that, the saver rooms are great as long as you get a decent hotel.
  • hi strange happenings, we booked to go to goodwood for this year 2013 in 2012 the orignial date for goodwood was 4th 5th 6th July 2013, we booked 3 rooms at the hotel and then tickets for goodwood, then goodwod changed the dates to 11th 12th 13th July, we tried to amend the saver rate at travleodge, but, to no avail, becasue the system will only let you rebook unless its at the saem rate you booked at (which will change very week) for in this case £79.00 (the new rate was £111 per room per night) the helpline was most un-helpfull (we dont care its your fault type of attitude, you should have read the t@c who dos?) travelodge will not reply to emails and letters, we took insurance which covers stuff you could never claim on !! so in this case we will not be able to amend the booking, but we will not cancel travelodge would then be able to re-sell the rooms, we will never use travleodge again and now use another chain who look to give good customer value and operate in the ethical manner we think this is an underhand way in which to make money, I would have gladly gave the money to help the heroes etc its not about the money its about how they treat you so now we are like many others an ex-customer thanks for reading and keep well people :rotfl:
To be honest the more ex customers like you the better for me! More rooms available for me.
If you wanted a flexible room you should have paid for it - simples :D
  • I have today booked a 2 night in a TL and received confirmation for a twin room. However in error i have selected one adult when in fact it is for 2 adults in the same room. Does anyone know if it will make any difference when we arrive and said it is for two adults. I tried ringing the hotel but no reply.

    Any help appreciated.

Won`t make any difference as you paid for the ROOM.
Tell them there`s two of you when you check in because you may need another set of towels.
I`ve put only one adult a few times especially in the £15 sales when it`s automatically set for one.

Depends on what the price is now.

The next £15 sale should be for July - Sept. but sometimes they backtrack on the months already covered but not always at £15.

doesn't seem to matter to travelodge if you book a room or not.
my dad booked a room for last night (they took the money out of his account the day he booked), he then got a phone call last night at 7pm to ask if he was going to be using the room. He told them he was and it would be about 10pm when they check in.
At 9pm when they had just set off he got another phone call to say the TL had sold his room to someone else and he had to go to an alternative.

This alternative ignored the phone when he rang for further directions as could not find it so he ended up at a completely different hotel chain at 11pm.

I am prepared for a fight with this one. He was fortunate he drives and could get to an alternative. I regulary use TL's for nights away - we travel by train with 2 small children to reach them. I'll not be booking again after this incident as I am concerned they would leave us stranded.
unfortunatly with the price of alternative hotel chains this means we will be going away a lot less often - such a shame.

Obviously, I don`t condone what happened to your father but he did agree to the T&C when he booked which includes below.

    Relocation

Travelodge operates a relocation policy (for more details on relocation policy click here). If a room is unavailable on arrival (except due to an event beyond our reasonable control, (see section 11.2)) then, we will either:
provide a room in another Travelodge hotel and pay the reasonable cost of transport to that alternative hotel or any applicable car park; OR
at your request, or, if in our reasonable opinion there is no suitable alternative hotel accommodation available, cancel your Booking and refund you any money you have paid in advance for the unavailable room(s) including related extras.
If you are due to pay on arrival at the hotel we will take payment for the cost of the booking and any prepaid extras. As outlined above any additional costs over and above the original cost of the booking will be covered by Travelodge. I.e. difference in room rates, reasonable transport costs, car park charges.

    From FAQ:

What happens if it becomes necessary for my reservation to be relocated?

On rare occasions, it may become necessary for us to relocate you and find you suitable alternative accommodation in the local area or offer to refund the room.
  • thanks T&C police. Unfortunatly when he TELEPHONED travelodge to book the room they failed to read him all the T&C's over the telephone.
He was NOT offered a refund just told to go to the other one.

It was no accidental relocation (the room hadn't flooded, the building hadn't caught fire) - they deliberatly re-sold his room. Which in my eyes is pure mis-selling, lying and theft.

But thankfully you will not be dealing with my complaint their Head Office will and if they don't give a satisfactory explaination and refund then I will be taking it further.
