Travelodge room sales discussion

It's not just that the sale prices have gone, in the past two weeks the prices (across London at least) have gone through the roof, I would say on average gone up 50% and in some cases 100% and well into the future so not just a short term demand issue.
I stay in a Travelodge in London for several days every week (lucky me?) and for the past six months have been able routinely to book up my stays for under £100 a night. Right now for the foreseeable the prices are £160-£190 a night - a massive increase.
I talked to staff last night and was told they've just implemented a new pricing policy which rather than quota based (easyJet style) tracks pricing at nearby hotels and prices to be minimally cheaper than local competition such as Holiday Inn or Premier Inn.
This is a major departure for them which isn't based on providing massive deals and incentives to book early but simply to be yet another overpriced supposedly budget hotel brand - a shame as they've got their act together on room comfort and staff.0 -

Excellent post which explains a lot.
How about a night at Waterloo on 18 June? Only £1257!

Any rumblings of a new sale for the last few months of the year? I found they're refurbishing their main hotels lately, new mattress, new decor, slightly better lighting etc:
So if they're pumping money into it, they may want to recoup it by not doing the very cheap sales anymore. Hope I'm wrong but wouldn't be shocked if we only get £19 rooms this year.0 -

I don't think we will ever see anymore £19 (or less) rooms; even looking 11 months ahead the very best rates in and around the bigger towns and cities seem to be £23/£25 a night.
Not so bad if the rooms are refurbished and the normal housekeeping issues sorted, but in the old style TLs that's just too much for me.0 -
So reading this I'm thinking the chances of getting a cheap room for my weekend away in November is quite slim. For a Friday & Sat night (22nd & 23rd) for a 3 bed room in covent garden it's looking like £205 minimum. So far I've found 4% at Quidco and a £5 off voucher but not much else. Any other discounts around that anyone knows of?
The prices have dropped loads in their few weeks but are slowly creeping up again so I'm thinking I need to book soon.
Any advice appreciated.
ThanksFeb 14 GC - £89.37/£3000 -
Since the start of June the prices have been jacked up and it looks as though the days of the £15 or even £19 sales are over.
Autumn savers - reflects the lowest room rates available (approx. 250,000 rooms at £25 or less) for stays between 1 October up to 30 November 2013 (excludes London hotels).
* Early bird offer - reflects the lowest saver room rates available (approx. 400,000 rooms at £21 or less) for stays between 1 December 2013 up to 2 March 2014 (excludes London hotels).
The bargain days are truly over.

Looks like Fernandes got it right back in June. The only reason i ever came to the Travelodge site was because they had brilliant room sales of £9/10 or £12 usually one in the spring and another for the autumn/winter,but unfortunately it appears they have just increased prices throughout the year and these kind of sales look like they will never be here again. They have just announced their autumn so called sale saying prices start at £25 or less. Most of the rooms ive found are way higher than £25 more like £35 a night.I dont think firms like Travelodge realise that the majority of people are struggling financially so all it will do is make them think twice about going in the first place. They think they can charge slightly less than say Premier inn and get away with it but i expect many will stay at home, especially as fuel prices have gone through the roof also.Pity as i enjoyed it whilst it lasted0

You can get a full week fully inclusive abroad for less than two nights in London in November0

I've just been booking TL rooms for next year, autumn next year to be precise, and most are in the £30-£35 range now with many being hotels that I used to be able to get at £15-£19 in the sales 12 months ago.
I don't so much mind paying that for the refurbished rooms but for the old ones with either rock hard or sagging matresses etc. it's a bit much.
Still at least I don't have to get up halfway through the night for the sales now!
About time MSE revamped their deals note for TL sales though.0 -

Sadly the latest sale at £25 a night proves my (and others) prediction correct.:(0
