How do you clean a toilet?

I wipe down every day with a dry cloth.
I keep a toilet brush in a crock filled with water. I add any leftover kitchen cleaner/shower gel etc to it occasionally. I use the brush every other day to clean the bowl.
I'm not a fan of bleach. Regular cleaning with soap is enough for me, and definitely the cheapest.Total Debt Sept 2010 - £24,132.38 / Current - £0.00/ 100% paid

Hello
This has probably already been suggested, but if not, wave cheerio to bleach. Simply boil some water, pour it down the toilet—ideally aim it round the bowl—and put the lid down. Most germs will be eradicated with what's an equivalent to a steaming treatment.
Pounds saved on bleach, and kinder to the environment, too.0 -
This could crack the toilet bowl though couldn't it due to the difference in temperature?Debt: 16/04/2007:TOTAL DEBT [strike]£92727.75[/strike] £49395.47:eek:   £43332.28 repaid 100.77% of £43000 target.MFiT T2: Debt [STRIKE]£52856.59[/STRIKE] £6316.14 £46540.45 repaid 101.17% of £46000 target.2013 Target: completely clear my [STRIKE]£6316.14[/STRIKE] £0 mortgage debt. £6316.14 100% repaid.0

If it is literally boiling at 100 degrees, yes, in theory. But don't forget our water isn't pure, which lowers the boiling point, and the temperature reduces very quickly when removed from heat.
My loo is fine thus far. Ceramic is sturdy stuff.0 -
lol it might kill germs but not the loo
the other day I descaled my kettle and didn't want to waste the water so I poured it around the loo (was about 20 mins later) and it didn't clean it at all.
Kicked myself later when I realised that I would have had better results if I'd poured it over the weeds outside my front door!
Good idea though, I eagerly await other replies.

Green cleaning products like white vinegar, borax (or substitute) and bicarb are good, too.0

Brown vinegar is fine - I've been using it for years. NO STAINING honest
Asda's own brand stuff is dead cheap, usually around 13p to 15p for a 500mil bottle.
Currently 13p - see here ---> Malt VinegarHi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there. my loo has what looks like rust under the water line, i believed it was limescale, but putting it down the loo and cleaning the loo nothing shifts it. Anyone got any suggestions as how to move it?
