RIGHT I am going to find some of that stuff, coke did absolutely naff all and neither do my usual cleaners shift this. I want rid of the awful brown mark just visible down the start of the U-bend which I'm sure is because some dirty beggar who lived here before us didn't clean the loo properly .0 -
My toilets badly need cleaned
(I do swish them with the brush every couple of days and pour bleach down occasionally, but I realise I need to have some sort of better cleaning routine for them.) Around and below the water level it is very stained. I took to it with a pair of rubber gloves and a brillo pad, and had some small success with getting some small areas sort of chipped off. So it is removable, just not at all easily. I've poured quite a lot of vinegar and bicarbonate of soda down there in an attempt to shift it, or at least soften it so I can scrub it again, but that's just not enough.
I'm willing to use plenty of elbow grease to get rid of it, and by this point I am not against using chemicals that require a gas mask to use because I just want it gone! Any suggestions would be much appreciated

Push as much water down the pipe as possible
Put about a pint of vinegar in the pan
Leave overnight

Is it a bleach/toilet cleaner with descaler in it? Do you put any down at night and leave it till morning before flushing and brushing?0

Drain the bowl, buy the very thick harpic with descaler in a black bottle pour all over the now exposed areas and you will be able to clear it of after a couple of hours. Don't scratch the china if there are really thick bits of scale then try chipping at it with a piece of wood (old trick from builder).Living the dream and retired in Cyprus :j
