according to the instruction booklet the movie mode is for watching in a darkly lit room. if i did set it to that and then change things like the gamma or sharpness it would then not be as movie mode. changing between dynamic, movie and standard does change most of the settings to a predefined setting. so the only one we have really messed about with at all is the standard one. i leave the other modes as they were set in the factory.
i will certainly give those settings a try.

Whats the exact model of tv you have Donna?
Martys right in that a lot of tvs are calibrated around the 'movie settings' mark (generally speaking ~ NOT always)

I can second what everyone's said about The Dark Knight, amazing. However, I think this is mainly because the Blu-Ray version has the action scenes filmed in IMAX, using every inch of your TV.

Otherwise the PS3 does a great job at upscaling DVDs, so IMHO not really worth the extra cash for a BR disk unless it's a minimal price difference and your TV's above 40".

Don't laugh at banana republics. :rotfl:

As a result of how you voted in the last three General Elections,
you'd now be better off living in one.

I think I deserve payment for that too :p

Those are proper ISF Calibration settings which could cost upwards of 250 quid to set to an individuals tv

I saw those posted over at AV Forums, but they're settings for the A656..is it the same TV as the A868? They don't make it easy with all these model numbers.

Is "Alan CD" an ISF certified calibrator? If so, I'll have to look out for his posts.
