Best Blu Ray titles

Well I got a PS3 the other week and have set my pc up as a media server. I can now copy any Blu Ray titles I have ripped from disk from my PC to my PS3. Much easier than having to sort through all the cases on the book shelf looking for the disk that has been put in the wrong case :rotfl: We've all been there!!

I ordered planet earth from play.com and it turned up today but i'm at work so haven't had a chance to watch it. I'm hoping it will stun me beyond belief :)

I was just wondering if anyone had any recommendations of any blu ray titles that will really show off the potential of my TV/PS3. I don't want to buy a blu ray title and find out its pants only to have wasted £20 so thought i'd ask on here first :)

Thanks all

I do have relatively few Blu Ray titles personally, but I thought the playback quality on The Dark Knight was absolutely stunning. Even my girlfriend, who ordinarily cannot tell the difference from standard definition, commented on how incredible the picture was. Great film, too.

I haven't seen the dark night so think I will have a look for that. I heard good things about the film so if the Blu ray is even better then it sounds like a winner :)

    Also, the U.K. site: http://uk.blu-ray.com/

Don't pay £20 for them, though: buy them on eBay U.K. :money:
    Remember regionality.

The film "2001" is stunning in Blu-ray on a large screen.

Someone else mentioned 2001 to me. I'll have to check it out sometime :D

I have a link on my computer at home displaying all region free bluray titles.
I'll dig it out if anyones interested

I guess i'm showing how young I am by not knowing what '2001' is and also by not being a fan of Top Gun LOL.

I've just spend 40 minutes looking at that blu ray site. very good read. Thanks for the link :)

Think i'm going to do some research on this 2001 film. Got a nice 40" sony scrren to put it on so maybe i'll like it? haha

Think i'll give 2001 a go then. Its obviously digitally remastered and not shot in HD but what difference does that make? I have been told to steer clear off Digitally remastered Blu Ray films but a few of you on here recommended this one. Now i'm confused again LOL

Movies shot on film (such as 2001: A Space Odyssey) have a much higher resolution than Blu-Ray, and if transferred properly, should look fantastic. They're über-HD so to speak.

It amazes me how something like The Wizard of Oz which was made 70 years ago is more HD than anything shot digitally these days, but that's progress for you I guess.

I happened to catch Planet Earth in HD the last time I was in the States, and I don't think you'll be disappointed; it's pretty stunning.
