This should be good, too. To be released next week. I shall certainly buy it!

Planet Earth is very good, though not 'quite' as good as I expected it to be
The Dark Knight is awesome on bluray.
One of the most stunning scenes for me though is on 28 Weeks later when they 'carpet bomb' London. The trail of destruction is jaw dropping to watch, heightened by the contrast of fire to the sheer blackness of night.

i have a queston about blu ray. is it worth it? i mean will i really see a difference? i ask because we recently got sky hd and i cant see much difference. i would be annoyed if i got as blu ray player and found it was no better than sky hd. our tv is full 1080p hd so no problem there. is all fuzziness gone with blu ray? with sky hd backgrounds still often look fuzzy like they do with sd.

Good recomendation. That looks well good!! I've just put a reminder for when its released.

Also 28 days later is a good suggestion aliEnRIK. I can imagine that scene looking very stunning!

Pity it's such an awful film; not a patch on the original!

I think it's very good, but your opinion may differ. Try it and see.

The difference you will see really depends upon the quality and the screen-size of your television.

You're not going to see much (if any) difference from a DVD on a 19" television but on a 50" or 60" top-of-the-range television the improvement (like the screen itself) is huge.

We've got a 20" Sony on the kitchen table and a 52" Sony in the lounge (both are LCD). I wouldn't buy a Blu-ray player or disc to watch things on the 20".

In terms of what Blu-ray discs to buy, the nature of the film is important. To take some well-known films, "Dances with Wolves", "Lawrence of Arabia" and "Out of Africa" would be great to watch on Blu-ray because they're shot on a grand scale and there is much detail in the picture; whereas, "A Few Good Men" was formerly a stage-play and is fundamentally about talking heads - it would be nice in Blu-ray but perfectly adequate in upscaled DVD.

And, to really enjoy the experience of either, a good sound system is just as important.

I agree the original is classic, but I still loved 28 Weeks. Probably as im a zombie fanatic :p

Whilst were on hidef though ~ 28 DAYS later looks WORSE than SD as it shows up all the horrible digital camera deficiencies

Ive personally never seen Sky HD so cant comment on the 'fuzziness' you speak of. But hidef films ive seen are clear as day (Bar XMEN 3 which had a load more 'grain' to it then I expected)

The background is usually supposed to be out of focus (fuzzy) The blending between shades of colour should look smoother on HD for the background of the shot, but it is only the action in the foreground (usually the actor that is currently talking) that will usually be in focus and therefore look sharper in HD than SD.
