What tv do you have?
And yes, you need to 'calibrate' your tv and make sure the PS3 settings are correct
If you couldnt see any difference when the millions of birds are flying then something is 'clearly' not right
:rotfl: :T nice pun
I'm using a Sony Bravia KDL 40V3000 TV and the PS3 as my bluray player. Calibrate is the word I was looking for not optimise LOL Do you have any recomendations of calibration disks?
I have looked for settings online but as everyones set up/room lighting etc is different I didn't think any of their settings would work. This is my signature. There are many like it, but this one is mine.0 -
Basics are ~
Plug the tv straight into the mains - NOT through some cheap cr*p mains extension
Turn off all the extra processing modes like enhanced contrast, digital noise reduction etc
Use a THX setup disc (Terminator 2, star wars etc) to setup brightness and contrast:idea:0 -

As it's a Samsung, you might want to buy one of these, while (if?) you still can.
our current home cinema system is samsung and while i think the sound is good the dvd player itself is iffy. it sometimes doesnt read discs and it is noisier than most dvd players i have experienced. so i have been put off from getting samsung when i get a blu ray player. my plan is to wait until the ps3 gets a decent enough price cut. i figure i can then also play the odd ps3 exclusive game as well that i obviously cant play on my xbox 360.0 -
I think you just need to calibrate your TV. You could have the brightness up too high.
I can see quite a bit of detail there, even on a cameraphone. Look at his eyelashes!0 -
Im not sure what your pointing out Donna ~
The black background with a 'blue fuzz'?
Or that the images dont look sharp and 'edge defined'?
(Or both ~ or something else?)
It could just be your pics, but it looks like the tvs not set right to me (Too 'bright' and 'flarey'):idea:0 -

the brightness is at 47. one change we did that made a difference was change the hdmi black setting from normal to low.0 -

its the fuzziness of the background. could snowyness be a better description? i would consider that normal on sd but with hd i expected better. on the second photo with the dark maroon background the snow moves when the picture is playing.0 -
It definitely looks like the TV settings to me. Try turning the brightness down until you can't see the "fuzziness" any more.0
