It's 23 Joules, much more than Boots' 8-10 Joules.
• I've been searching the net for weeks to gather information about the different IPL machines that are currently on the market.
I've read most of this thread (yeah, I know, I'm desperate...:rotfl:) and it's been incredibly useful, so a big thanks to all of you!
I'm very fair skinned and while I have no problems with any other body hair; my bikini area is just driving me maaaaad!!
The hair is really dark and coarse, and because shaving is not an option as it is too irritating for my sensitive skin, I've had it waxed for years. I'm always going for a Hollywood, as I absolutely hate pubic hair, but I still get a lot of ingrown hair and it's just so annoying to pay £35 every 4 weeks.
The Boots Smooth Skin sounds really good and I actually think it's a real bargain considering that I spent around £800 on waxing in the last 2 years alone.
Now, I know it says in the Boots Q&A section that it's not safe to use to treat the whole pubic area but I really don't understand why.
If it's safe to use in the face by protecting the sensitive lip area with a white eyeliner and a white stationary label, why can't I do the same in the bikini area? (Sorry for the graphic description!)
As far as I know only a couple of people have made comments on this, but I really wonder whether some of you have actually successfully used it to get a Hollywood shape.
I know it's quite private, but please answer if you have any comments. I'm just so fed up with waxing and all these horrible ingrown hairs which just look sooo unsightly, especially in summer, and are really painful as well... :(
Cheers x

I've only had about two months, so can't comment on whether it works medium or long term. Am not going for a Hollywood/Brazilian look, just a general tidy up. Have used it on either side of the lip area down below, and man, it is definitely not something I want to do a lot of! It makes me jump, and it's only telling myself no more dealing with random hairs that allows me to carry on. Just three zaps either side is all I can bear!

I do that area when the machine has just been started up. I think the pain does increase as you go on, as it heats up or something. I know that the second armpit always hurts that bit more, whichever way round I do it.
• i've got one for sale if anyone is interested. the reason why i'm selling is because i have no patiency to use it. it takes god 4 hours to do whole body. I've used it twice so i'm selling it as nearly new. 180 GBP, in box with all equipment. kolderka@op.pl

i think it does work, i can see the results after second time, hair slightly thinner, but with my dark hair will take ages...

I must admit that I don't think I would have the patience to do the whole body, particularly in summer, when the weather's so nice outside. I'm currently doing my primarily my underarms every week. If I have time for another session, I'm doing other bits, but only 20 zaps or less during these other sessions.

It's quite an involved process. Because of the bright laser, I have to evacuate all my cats from the room before doing it. :D:D
• I have just completed my 11th session today and thought I would share my results so far. Bikini line is the biggest success and after 2 weeks of use, all the stubble rash i normally got after shaving was gone. Around the 6 week mark, it seemed to come back but since then only a few stray hairs. Went on holiday a few weeks ago and it was the first time in years that I felt comfortable in a swim suit. Started the rest of the bikini area 7 weeks ago and seeing good results but still a bit to go. Tried the outer lips once and would never do it again...the pain was not worth it! Underarms are good but not as dramatic. I don't have to shave during the week and I previously had to shave every day as I had very rapid regrowth. One side is better than the other. One side I get a few fine hairs but the other side for some reason is taking a little longer with a slightly larger patch of hair, not as fine as the other side but a huge difference to what I had before. I had very thick, dark hairs so even with one side being a bit stubborn, it's still a big improvement. Going to wait until winter to do legs. Even if I end up having to top up fairly often, I don't mind because weekly beats daily for me!
• I saw on Twitter that Boots Smooth Skin are running a competition on their Facebook page to win one every week. Their Facebook group is called iPulseSmoothSkin - not sure how to give you the direct link so just search it on Facebook I guess

It's definately a pain issue!

I have been doing the bikini area - this is the second summer that I have used it. Last summer I did about 12 treatments, was almost hair-free in the treated bikini areas and about 1/2 the hair returned over the winter. Interestingly the growth was much finer and I was able to shave it without the previous rash or ingrowing hairs.

I only needed about 4 treatments to be hair-free in the same area this time, with a booster treatment today (a month after the last treatment) to catch a few stragglers before my hols.

I have experimented to see how close I can go to the 'undercarriage' (if you get my drift), but it is incredibly painful and I personally couldn't bear it, so no hollywood for me!

You can buy local anaesthetic cream (such as Emla which my son had on the back of his hand before a drip was put in in hospital), over the counter at a pharmacy, and I know some people have used this before electrolysis, but it takes 1/2 hour to work and might not be suitable for delicate areas.

Anyone tried anything like this?
• Hi Girls, I was wondering if there's someone out there who has been using this machine for a while, and doesn't need it anymore.
I would happy to buy it off her.
Please let me know if you're interested.
Thanks
• I'd be worried about using a anastic cream becuase you could end up burning your skin and not noticing. I have accidently burnt my skin - there was a dark mark on my leg I didnt notice (probably pen or something) and it look ages to go.

I really need to keep on at this - meant to use it again at the weekend but am too lazy!
