I'd be worried about using a anastic cream becuase you could end up burning your skin and not noticing. I have accidently burnt my skin - there was a dark mark on my leg I didnt notice (probably pen or something) and it look ages to go.

I really need to keep on at this - meant to use it again at the weekend but am too lazy!

Same goes with deep freeze type creams and sprays- I have so many burns from that stuff- works well on muscles and cools skin (though takes about 20 mins to do so) but I still have healing burn marks from where the skin blisterd and was burned open on my feet and ankles 2.5 months ago now!

I'm using the Philips Lumea and am really impressed. It's pain-free and only takes approx 1 hour to do legs, underarms, and bikini area! Here's my full review: mysuperskin.com:/home/philips-lumea-ipl-hair-removal-system/

How long have you been using it? We discussed earlier in this thread figures that suggest that the Lumea is it too underpowered to fully kill off a hair follicle permanently.

Unfortunatly I find that review rather like something from a marketing dept and not a true review.

I bought one today (£5 off coupon, 200 extra points and double points coupon, hurrah!).

Used it on the medium setting on bikini line and under arm areas. Just a quick question if I may, I followed the instructions and when the button glows red I press it. Twice it crackled and had a red flash (made me jump, lol). The rest of the time, nothing appeared to happen. Is this how it's supposed to be? I feel a tiny bit sore, but had no pain whatsoever during use, which is fab, but I'm wondering if I'm doing it correctly?

eta: After searching around I think I have a duff one as it does not 'flash'. Will ring them tomorrow to see what they say.

2nd eta: Phoned the helpline, he suggested I exchange it which I just have. Having a cuppa first then gonna try again. Wish me luck!

This unit worked. Red flash and stinging feeling. Only took a few minutes to do BL and AP.

    i'm interested on this product..
can anyone tell me if after using this product the skin gets very red and how long does it take theredness to disspear?
i'm thinking of using it on my upper lip but i don't wanna go out in the street with a red upper lip !
  • It doesnt make my skin red at all. However if you are only looking to use it on your face you may find it cheaper to go to a salon.
