Here’s the facts, don’t believe the hype!
Professional IPL machines produce the energy to DESTROY the hair follicle.
Home IPL only DISABLES the follicle.
Don’t believe me, read their own words.
Direct quote from Boots Smooth Skin……..
‘The light is absorbed by the coloured pigments in and surrounding the hair and disables the hair follicle, helping to prevent hair re-growth.’
Direct quote from Viss IPL……
‘When directed at the site of unwanted hair, the light is absorbed by dark pigment of the hair, disabling the follicle with minimal discomfort.’
They will be doing home eye laser next!0 -

I always wondered why the people who brought it in the beginning was never coming back to say how they were getting on with it.

I have been using the Boots Smooth Skin for about 9 weeks now on my underarms and about 6 weeks on my bikini line. I've noticed a huge difference to my underarms, hardly any regrowth now, just a few stragglers. On the negative side, there are some black dots still visible under the skin but I hope these will disappear in time. Not noticing much difference to my bikini line, a few patches where the hair growth is sparser but only done about 6 treatments so hopefully it will improve in a few weeks. I bought this primarily to use on my face but as the guidance is to shave the area prior to treatment, I really don't want to shave my face just incase the IPL doesn't work! Haven't decided yet whether it's worth the money (I bought it when it was £50 off) but salon laser treatment is so expensive I thought this would be worth a try.0

I've had the Smooth Skin for a year now, so thought I should update.
Even though I am NOT hair free on my legs (that I have been zapping reguarly the whole year) I dont regret buying it. I could never shave my legs bacuse I would get horrible "chicken skin" from the re-growth, but now the hairs are so much finer than before I can shave only every few days.
I have started to zap only one side, for about the last 4 months, and DO notice a difference between the two sides. Hair growing back is less, and finer, and although there are no large hair free patches the hair is much sparser.
I used to get terrible ingrown hairs on my bikini line, and although I still go get them, I get far fewer than before.
Before I bough the boots machine I had a few sessions of salon lazer treatment, just on my bikini line, but these didnt make any difference. Therefore I beleive that salon treatmeant would work out MUCH more expensive to get a similar result.
Although I am happy with my purchase, I wouldnt recommend this for everyone. If you are happy with shaving / waxing then dont bother. The machine is so time consuming and is slow with the results that you achieve, it would be too easy to return to shaving / waxing.
However if you were very hung up on your hair, and are prepared to spend the time de-fuzzing, then go for it!
I would also recommed it for anyone thinking of having salon treatments. The salon machine took just as long (in fact longer with tavel to and from, plus paying for and getting ready for each session), and from my few sessions was not any more effective.
Well, that's my feeling so far!0 -
