  • Just gone to use my machine and horror of horrors all lights are on! And after reading the booklet it seems like the head has reached 10,000 and needs replacing. I can't believe that I have reached 10,000, has anyone had this problem? I have just been on the Boots site and they are selling them for £160!! :(

Do I really have to buy a new head or can my head be reconditioned in any way?
£400+ in my £2 coin tablet fund

Is it the original or the Plus model? I read that you can buy a reconditioned head for much cheaper than a brand new one.

EDIT Just found where I'd seen it, on page 12 of this thread scroll down to Lilibeth's post #237. Sorry I can't post a link as I'm a newbie. I couldn't find a refurbished head on the Boots website but maybe go direct through Cyden who make it? The prices that have been quoted to other people on the forum is £99 for a refurb head and £175 for a new one. Google Cyden iPulse and you can find their website with a contact form.
  • Returned mine yesterday and got my money back!I did more than 15 treatments and I'm not pleased as hair grows back.I have more facial hair than before and plenty of spots.
  • Is it efficient on facial hair?and neck?
    Thank's
  • bought this system in June 2011 and still using it. i am olive skinned w dark hair and am using the kit for bikini and underarms. it has had some impact, but the 6 - 12 treatment benchmark is not necessarily realistic . i note that boots now may have moved to another product - i wonder why...
  • Also, for anyone who is interested. I have vitiligo and had reservations about using this as IPL can cause changes in pigmentation and it isn't recommended for use if you have vitiligo. I used it anyway and I haven't noticed any additional white patches appearing. Obviously that is just me and everyone is different but I thought I'd share my experience from that point of view.[/QUOTE]

Hi, was wondering if you had every done other hair removal methods that may affect your vitiligo? Like laser or waxing? I have vitiligo and I got new patches once I did laser and waxing.
I am searching above and beyond for a hair removal that is ok to use for vitiligo...

It is quite mind-boggling all the "at home IPL" devices that are out now.

The last one I remember recently was MeMyElos, though after initial rave reviews (hm, always suspicious but who knows!) it seems quite mixed.

This one is pretty new, Gillette Venus Naked Skin, currently £449.99 (I can see reviews from September 2012): d-Skin-Designed-by-Braun-Intense-Pulsed-Light-Hair-Reduction-System_1262160/

    Venus Naked features:
    • An at-home device derived from professional Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) technology
    • Includes V Activating Gel for an effective light transfer and to help you track where you have already treated
    • Features a built-in safety sensor and Integrated Skin Tone Sensor to ensure a customized level of treatment
    • Bulb provides 50,000 flashes
    • Venus Naked Skin® can be used everywhere, including the face and below the neckline, such as your legs, underarm, bikini line, arms, back and stomach
    • Corded device allowing you to complete a full treatment without the need to charge
    • Suitable for skin tones 1 to 4
How does Venus Naked Skin work?
    • Venus Naked Skin® is derived from professional IPL technology
    • Light energy is transferred through the V TM Activating Gel to target the melanin in the hair, helping to put the hair to sleep
    • Ongoing treatments help to break the cycle of hair re-growth
    • During the start up phase, use for 6 –12 treatments once every 2 weeks and then once every 2 months to maintain
Anyone had experience of this device?

I realise this is about the "Smooth Skin" but it may be of interest to those who are interested in the MeMyElos: http://www.groupon.co.uk/deals/national-deal/HoMedics/19499349

It's listed on here (1 day to go) at £229. Groupon have also mailed out £5 off vouchers to most members (as far as I know), which makes it £224.

Whether it is an effective device or not, I'd advise you to do your research first and choose carefully (I'm interested but not sure I want to gamble, £200 is still a lot of money!).

There is one listed on Boots now called "memyelos Quartz": not sure if this is a newer version.
