Anyone tried Boots 'Smooth Skin' home IPL hair reduction system yet?

Despite it's price (indroductory price of £249.99) for the first 3 months, I must say that I am rather tempted to get one of these as I have been saving up for salon laser hair removal. If it does actually work it could save a lot of money (as well as effort, embaressment, pain etc.).

http://www.boots.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/CategoryDisplay?storeId=10052&categoryId=42684&catalogId=10551

It's very new, but I wondered if anyone has actually bought one and tried it yet.

I did find a bit on the Handbag website - but would like to get some MSE opinions on it.

Also, can anyone suggest any ways to get a discount or cashback? Boots seems to have disappeared from Quidco.

Hi, I don't know about the Smooth Skin system, (would be interested in any replies though)
    but if you do decide to go for it Boots is on the following cashback sites;
    Topcashback 3.5%
    Greasypalm 1.75%
    Ipoints 7 points per £2
    Cashback kings 3.5%

also, don't foget to check for codes on the boots code thread. There are often ones for 500 points wys £50 or over.

Personally, I'm from the skool of "if it looks too good to be true...it probably is".

I would have thought they would have backed this up with some science or shows on TV or other advertising then dummy stands on display. Rest assured, if it does really work, there will be cheaper imitations (possibly by Boots, Tesocs, Superdrug..etc) before you can say "hairless"!

    Hiya!

Not sure if this is at all relevant but do you collect Tesco Clubcard vouchers? If you do, £2.50 pound of them is worth £10 in SK:N clinics for laser hair removal effectively costing you only 25% of what it would cost in real 'money'!!!:

    Hope this helps!

Not sure if you were aware, (I wasnt) but the boots smooth skin cant be used on the face/upper lip etc.

Might be that you want it for other areas but I thought I would mention :o

I think the page full of 'warning do not use if' has put me off.

Apparently it doesn't work on blonde, grey or white hair!

Thanks for this suggestion - I had looked at this actually, but unfortunately there aren't any anywhere clinics near me.

I have looked at all the warning etc. and am still not put off anything...except possibly spending that much money on something that might not work.

Would still be interested if anyone has taken the plunge and bought one and tried it out.

hi all, i've got one, yay! and i'm just about on my 4th session - not sure 'too good to be true' works with this one you know - it actually seems to be working...already, which is really impressive, and unexpected! apparently it should take 6 - 12 weeks to complete the treatment, so i'm pretty amazed i can see results already, and at £250 (promo price) it beats paying loads for salon treatments - and you can do it at home, which is the best bit as far as i'm concerned! Totally happy with mine so far, would def' recommend. Any other successes? or anyone further on in their treatments? i'll check back x

is this just for legs or can you use it on bikini line and underarms too? is it sore? how long are the results meat to last?
  • If it's as good as it says then the people who buy it now will have no more use for it in 3 months - check ebay in the summertime ;)

just read the list of warnings and "do not use if"' precautions - think that may rule a lot of people out!
