Anyone tried Boots 'Smooth Skin' home IPL hair reduction system yet?

Hey Guys,
Got my eyes firmly on this thread! Please post how it goes!! I might try 1 salon treatment to see how it goes and then if I respond well I go out and buy this.0 -
So far I've not seen any negative comments and I fit the suitability profile, so I've just taken the plunge and bought one. I used the 300 bonus points on £35 spend in AC machine and that pays for an extra tube of activator gel.
I am going to do the patch test right away and will be trying it out properly later in the week.
Will report back on progress!0 -
Just in case anyone else wants to know, Boots said it will cost approximately £50 to get the light replaced once it stops working after 10,000 pulses.
I quite fancy this but just not sure if I can justify the cost. A tube of Veet is sooooo much cheaper. :undecidedHerman - MP for all!0 -
ha ha, aliasojo, yep, true, veet is cheaper, but imagine NEVER having to ever use it ever again?!! or shave?! or wax?!! it's crazy when you think about it...i've missed a week coz life's taken over a bit, but i'm determined to do another session tonight, and smooth bits are def' appearing...i can't quite believe it, but it is actually happening, awesome!!
RebekahR, give the salon a go if you fancy it, but i'm not sure 1 session will show any results - or is it more about just seeing how your skin reacts to it? good idea. all i can say is, the smoothskin is so painfree, it makes you wonder if you're doing it right - ha! usually any kind of hair removal is a nightmare pain-wise! but i honestly can't complain - the one tingly bit was my armpits, but i changed the setting to dark for that bit, and it was completely fine...so even if it hurts, you can control it, which is a bonus!
i'll let you know how tonight goes... x0 -
I've been searching the net for money off codes to soften the blow but there just doesn't seem to be any on the go right now. Even the extra points codes expired yesterday.Herman - MP for all!0

Keep us posted
I am starting to save if it does at least 50% of what it says.0 -

It's a disclaimer. It'll slow the growth down but nothing can promise to permanently stop hair growth on women with hormone imbalances, it will always re-grow eventually.0 -
I did the test a couple of days ago. I'm starting with the bikini line as that's the bit that bothers me the most. All I felt was a tiny prickling sensation - almost like an elastic band being snapped, but not so painful. I had no reaction so was all set to give it a go when I noticed that it said not to use it during a period - anyone know why that might be?
Might be just that you feel a little more sensitive to pain at that time (or maybe more sensitive to everything if you're anything like me!). Might wait until next week for my first full session, just to be on the safe side.0 -
One of the area's I want to attack is my chin and under chin. Is it ok with this?
One of the reasons for going to the salon 1st.0 -
Welcome to the gang Jap200!! :T
I started with bikini and legs too. Had my first sesh last weekend. Still getting to grips with using it. Easy, but takes time I guess.
Totally agree with zoe33 in that one session won't do anything RebekahR! The Boots IPL needs between 6 and 12 sessions. One won't do anything. They'll probably tell you that in the salon too.
Borrow someone's BSS and do a test patch to see if you have any adverse reactions! Free
Aliasjo, I couldn't find any money off stuff. I used some gift vouchers and felt happy enough that it's £50 off (introductory offer) until May 5th! After that it goes up in price.
Hope this helps.
