I've been reading through this thread and I'm still torn over which device to get. It's between the BSS, Lumea or Tria.
After reading many good things about the Tria device I'm tempted by that now since it's laser instead of IPL, but the price is putting me off. It's sold for £575 over here but in the US it's $495 (which a conversion site tells me is £320) - huge difference in price! I emailed them and they blammed shipping costs etc. Annoyingly the US department shops that sell it won't ship it either. Can anyone think of a way to get it for nearer the US price?
I looked into that VISS thing too but I'm not convinced, especially since there is a lack of reviews.
Anybody got any updates on the Smooth Skin, if you had your chance again, would you still buy it?0 -
Can I just say that I bought the Tria when it first came out a couple years ago and the size of the treatment head on it was small, took forever, and I saw little improvement in 8 months so I sold it on for about the same money I paid for it. Phew!! I would never go back to it. Very glad I bought the boots i-Pulse. Much more effective and tbh CHEAP compared to salon prices.
I could be greedy and buy the VISS aswell because the power (joules i think?) are quite high on it but I don't like the idea of not using gel on my skin now. (The Tria was gel-less aswell)Whether we win or lose, that we played at all was a winning decision.2011 wins £12,2922012 wins ...Thank you to all who post on here!!!! :A0 -
Thanks for the great replies All eBayed Out and imho, it's really good to know about peoples experience with these things as I have nothing to go off when deciding. Now I really can't decide as I was verging towards the Tria yesterday. I think I might go back to thinking about the Boots Smooth Skin, I'm dark haired with lightly tanned colour skin so hopefully it would work ok. I'm guessing whichever I go for it isn't going to be perfect results anyway, but it's much better priced than the salon treatments so I'm very tempted!0

Hi. The costs probably aren't just for shipping, it will include import duty too which is payable on goods imported from outside the EU, and so is VAT. If they don't add this, you could be liable when the goods reach the UK.I've been reading through this thread and I'm still torn over which device to get. It's between the BSS, Lumea or Tria.

If I had my chance again, and was willing to wait a year to let Viss be tested on the open market, I think I'd like to go for the Viss because:
- it's more powerful
- it has that wonderful alternative handset that potentially will treat large pores and lines which I'm all agog to hear reviews about.
My Smooth Skin, which I've had for over two months, has seemingly really slowed down the underarm hair, but the aesthetic reality is that I've now got this permanent goosebumpy chicken skin, highlighted by tiny black dots where there were hairs.
So it's definitely !!!!!! the growth, and there's a part of me that thinks that just under £300 for not shaving for another x hundred times in my life is worth it, but there's another part of me that's annoyed by the hype that doesn't warn about goosebumpy chicken skin with black dots.
I'm pretty much the ideal candidate, with black hair and fairish skin.
What I'm musing about is although I don't have a beard, I understand that hair growth in that area is a possibility in the later years of life for women. I'm wondering if the unnoticeable miniscule fuzz there is treated while the hair is as dark as it's ever going to be, then will there be no live hairs there to develop into "lady beards" when one gets to old age?0 -

No, I wouldn't - not very MSE of me to spend £250:mad: very disappointed ewith the resultsLife is a coin, you can spend it anyway you wish, but you can only spend it once.
Go as far as you can see, and when you get there you'll see further.
Take time but don't waste time0 -
After ignoring my advice my daughter bought this machine and has found it does not work, like all mum's i didnt want to see her waste her money so i looked into what IPL actually is. its a very high level intense light that needs a powerful machine to destroy the follical. if this machine was that powerful it would not be sold over the counter and IPL needs a qualified and trained specialist to use it. do as my daughter is now and go to a professional and spend the money on results.0
