Will shaving be a solution ? , i never shaved the area ( i use epilator) but from now i will start to shave so my hair pigiments gets darker for fast treatment . Has any one done that ?:cool:

i'm so glad that armpit area worked for you i'm optimistic now thanks to you, :A , i will spend all my summer zapping

btw what other areas have u used it for

I didn't know that shaving could cause hair to darken! Is this right? (am I reading this right?) its just that I eplilate/wax my legs in the summer but shave most days in the winter (I use the gym alot so try to keep fuzz free both winter and summer) my leg hairs are still pale and its been about 15 years of shaving.

It could just be me but I have not found shaving darkens hairs but hope I'm not proven wrong here- I don't want darker hairs, its hassel enough with the rest of my hair being dark and growing faster then ever!
  • I have been having IPL on my face for thread vein removal and skin rejuvenation /removal of freckles. its great but v expensive - does anybody know if you can use this Boots system for that or is it only for hair removal

As far as I am aware, shaving can not cause your hair to grow back darker or thicker - you are essentially just trimming a hair very close to the skin when you shave and cutting hair cannot have any affect on how it regrows. I think this is a common myth, and it comes about because sometimes the hair appears to be thicker or darker due to the angle at which it grows back, especially when it is at the stubble stage. Only hormones and genetics can actually alter how hair grows (in terms of thickness and colour).

    It's a different light frequency.

Laser/IPL systems are fine tuned for the job they're meant to do. Using one for another job is at best useless, at worst very dangerous.

I've ordered mine. £50 off, and 3.5% via Quidco.
Really excited, it's my birthday treat, and am keen to maybe finally banish underarm fuzziness!

The other thing that I'm not sure about is my face. I have large pores on my cheeks, that I've since learnt to minimise using a simple wipe on of fresh milk after cleansing. However, I think that each pore is emphasized by having a tiny black hair growing out of it. Am wondering if anyone has been successful in zapping hairs in that area?

    (a) If I get a BSS, I know it won't work on the blonde/translucent hairs - but is it safe to use it over these since the dark ones are amongst the blondies?
    (b) Can't get my head around the shaving bit. Do you need to shave immediately before BSS session & then not again 'til next session? Or do you shave in between zappings? Completely freaked about shaving 'cos I always end up with stubble within hours - & ingrowing hairs. SOOO do not want to shave my chin - unlike pits or bl, I can hardly cover my chin while waiting for the next zapping session!! Is there any way to use BSS without shaving?
Soz if these questions seem glaryingly obvious to all you guys..........but I'd REALLY appreciate your comments.
(a)Won't make a difference to the blond ones but should work on the dark
    (b) I felt very much like you, but the treatment seems to slow down regrowth. When I first started, I was panicky about how quickly stubble appeared. Having been in the sun, I stopped using it for a few weeks, but the growth is definitely slower.

How is everyone getting on with their Smooth Skin treatments? Has any one got any feed back on this?

I've been using it on my underarms and bikini line and it is going really well. I haven't been very good at recording treatments etc so I'm not sure exactly how many I have done but I would guess around 7-8 on underarms and about 4-5 on bikini line. I only have a few little patches on my underarms now, and actually, it's the same with my bikini line! I'm really surprised by how well my BL has reacted, it had a big impact even after 1 session.

I also did a patch on my leg about 3 times when I first got it, just to see how they reacted. I haven't done anything to it for over a month now and still, very few hairs grow in that patch. I would like to do my lower legs but to be honest, I don't have the patience and couldn't commit to it long term. If it sorts out my underarms and BL then I'll be really happy.

Interested to hear any other feedback from people!
  • Just ordered mine- collecting Thursday. Was very wary about spending such a lot of money but after hearing nothing but positive reviews, I decided it should be worth it! Have had such a nightmare with my BL in the past- had an awful experience at a salon where I booked an appointment with my usual lady and was instead given someone else who practically butched me- missed half of it, gave me a bruise! I was devastated and will not be going back. Thank god there is another option!

Still excited at the impending delivery of said machine. Shaved under arms day before yesterday, and now have a few tiny itchy bumps, I think from hair growing back. Do those of you who have been "Smooth Skinned" find that you don't have to contend with as much of that any more?
